DH loves the name and is dead set on it, I'm more on the fence but mainly because I'm a worrier and wonder if it's the kind of name kids could take the mick out of as it's a bit different. We don't live in Scotland or Ireland although DH's family and our surname are Scottish. Opinions please! Smile

It's cute! I wouldn't use it, but it's a nice name.

BenLui · 20/08/2017 20:45

I think it's great, but then I'm Scottish.

RaininSummer · 20/08/2017 20:47

Love it and not Scottish.

IrnBruTortie · 20/08/2017 20:47

I love it. If DC2 had been a DS not a DD, Fergus was a definite contender. I also like Gus as a shortening.

Pigofwar · 20/08/2017 20:58

Don't like it, sorry. Reminds me of "fungus".

user1471469504 · 20/08/2017 21:06

It's lovely. Fergal is similar and also nice.

Sophronia · 20/08/2017 21:52

I like it

Cherrytart6 · 20/08/2017 21:57

I like the nickname Gus

lizzieoak · 20/08/2017 22:01

Love it, particularly as his dad's family is Scottish.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/08/2017 23:12

Cool !

Jooni · 21/08/2017 00:26

It's a nice name, clunky-cool (in a good way!), and Fergie or Gus are both good nicknames.

grufallosfriend · 21/08/2017 07:23

I don't really like it, but can't see what's tease worthy about it..?

CurrentlyNothing · 21/08/2017 07:25

Also life Fraser and Fergal.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 21/08/2017 07:27

Love it

funshine17 · 21/08/2017 08:24

Superbeagle......I know that person you are talking about very well....rather an identifying post don't you think? I hope she doesn't see it! Confused

17caterpillars1mouse · 21/08/2017 08:54

Lovely name and not common which is always a bonus

TronaldDumpy · 21/08/2017 09:00

I always think of this song when I hear the name. Love it. (Name and song)

MyWhatICallNameChange · 21/08/2017 09:20

I love it, it's a gorgeous name.

MineKraftCheese · 21/08/2017 09:34

I'm not keen on how it's pronounced in an English accent, like "Feuhhhhgus". Prefer a big Scottish "FEHRgiss" Grin

Sorry, that was meant to be lighthearted, I think it's a lovely name.

FergusMum2 · 21/08/2017 09:51

Well, I've name changed for this.

My son is called Fergus. The most annoying thing about it is that my family call him Fergie, some kids in his class spell it Furgus and..... that's about it.

He has never been called Fungus, although he refuses to watch Fungus the Bogeyman.

We love the name and he loves his name. He is the only Fergus in school which makes finding lost clothes very easy, however, he is not the only boy to be called this name. Some children have older brothers called Fergus.

If we want to shorten the name then it's usually Ferg or Fergs. He does not like the name Gus as he associates it with Augustus Gloop.

I can't imagine my boy being called anything else! Oh, and we don't live in Scotland.

coconutsmoothie · 21/08/2017 10:23

Thanks all for the comments Smile I'm starting to fall for the name even more now. Especially love the nicknames Fergs and Gus. DH is loving the fact that it's Scottish! It would be nice as our DS1 has a very traditional/old school uncommon English name so it would be lovely to have a traditional Scottish name as well, I think!
