Does nobody like the name Cora?

Every time I mention it to people IRL as one of my favourite names they pull an 'errrr' face haha. Have also noticed online it doesn't get the best reception.

I just think it's cute and compact!

If you dislike it are there negative connotations I wasn't aware of or is it the sound of it that grates on you? Grin

I know a 2 year old Cora. I like it.

pilates · 18/08/2017 16:14

Sorry not keen, I think of the horrible old bag on eastenders.

Mammadragon · 18/08/2017 17:17

The chewed up apple comment made me lol...I once got told on Mumsnet my daughter's name reminded them of the noise you make when you get off a beanbag😂😂 made me love it even more!

As for Cora...my daughter has THE MOST annoying toy in the world called Cora-the smart cub (cheers nanny!) so that puts me off slightly, but that aside it's a nice, unoffensive name. Love Norah though.

It's lovely, it was on my list for a DD and one of DH's great aunts.

Jooni · 18/08/2017 18:00

I think it's a lovely name, cute and compact like you say - what's not to like?

Mrsknackered · 18/08/2017 18:02

I like it!

17caterpillars1mouse · 18/08/2017 18:17

I like it and I know a little Cora (14 months) so at least 2 people do lol. It's a lovely name

MarieLaure · 18/08/2017 18:19

Really like it. I also like Nora a lot (was just wistfully thinking earlier today that DD would have made a good Nora, had DH not dug his heels in).

NerrSnerr · 18/08/2017 18:20

Cora Blimey!

BlackberryLassi · 18/08/2017 18:21

I like it. It sounds sweetly old fashioned.

TronaldDump · 18/08/2017 18:22

If DS2 had been a girl he would have been Cordelia -
Cora, Cordy and Delia all lovely nicknames in my book!

WunWun · 18/08/2017 18:25

mammadragon I'm imagining your daughter's name to be Sssshhhhhh!

SecretLifeOfSam · 18/08/2017 18:32

I love it

MrsJoyOdell · 18/08/2017 18:35

I love it and was always going to have a little girl called Cora. DH could/would not be persuaded Sad

FlossyAnn · 18/08/2017 18:38

My 9 week old is Cora, I get a lot of positive comments Smile

FreakinDeacon · 18/08/2017 18:47

I'm not sure if you remotely care but a very well known US YouTube family have just had a baby DD and her name is Cora. If may become popular.

I think it's a lovely name.

daisypond · 18/08/2017 18:51

I like it. The much more interesting sister from the Last of the Mohicans is called Cora (from the book, not the film).

LorLorr2 · 18/08/2017 18:56

FreakinDeacon That's one of the things that made me want to ask this! Because I saw comments on their vlogs along the lines of 'why would you name your baby that' and thought oh dear is it just me who thinks it's lovely. Glad you lot have proved me wrong

NerrSnerr Lol!

Mammadragon that's hilarious. My guess is Oooft?
