Hi, what's your opinion on Marley for a boy ? I think it's quite a sweet name (i had a hamster years ago called Marley 😃) but I just can't imagine a grown man being called this. I have other names on my list but just wondered what others thought as not seen this name mentioned on here!

I think of Marley and me straight away but I like the name 😊

ScarletSienna · 16/08/2017 08:07

Because I only know of a girl with that name (and the dog in the film), I can't imagine it for a boy.

AfunaMbatata · 16/08/2017 08:07

It's a lovely name! I know a grown man with that name though and he is lovely and kind so that may be why I think that.

sooperdooper · 16/08/2017 08:08

Sorry but I think of Marley & me, it's a dog's name to me

museumum · 16/08/2017 08:08

It totally makes me think of the dog from the film. Sorry.

sandgrown · 16/08/2017 08:09

It makes me think you must be a reggae fan

AuntieStella · 16/08/2017 08:10

In RL, I've only met an equine Marley.

It's also surname in Dickens' Christmas Carol, and I whenever I hear surname-names I'd expect a boy

M5tothesouthwest · 16/08/2017 08:10

Dog name. Sorry!

Saucysausages · 16/08/2017 08:10

I think of bob Marley so assume mixed race child

Also Marley is on Teen Mom UK - Marley for a boy, Manley is a dad, Marlia is a girl version of the name. So it may be popular with that demographic that's the only place I've heard it

VanillaSugar · 16/08/2017 08:12

Another one saying Marley & Me.

🐕

VanillaSugar · 16/08/2017 08:13

TV series: Marley's Ghosts.... only, Marley is a woman....

BikeRunSki · 16/08/2017 08:14

I'd assume he was named after Bob Marley.

Like the brother I knows called Dylan and Lennon.

milosmummy16 · 16/08/2017 08:14

I do agree when I first heard it I thought of the film Marley and me but not anymore, as it keeps growing on me. Hmmm still not sure x

I think the Dickens will stand the test of time rather better than a current (nit terribly well known) TV series.

Ditto the labrador (sorry)

Joinourclub · 16/08/2017 08:18

Definitely a dogs name.

Bluntness100 · 16/08/2017 08:20

Totally a dogs name, sorry.

BigGreenOlives · 16/08/2017 08:20

Know a 17 year old boy called Marley, it always sounds odd when his mum is talking about him but fine when he's there...

OliviaStabler · 16/08/2017 08:21

Dog

delilahbucket · 16/08/2017 08:21

I know a Marley. He's not mixed race or a dog. The name suits him.

Ropsleybunny · 16/08/2017 08:21

Nice name for a Labrador.

thegirlupnorth · 16/08/2017 08:22

A great name for a cat or dog.

GeillisTheWitch · 16/08/2017 08:23

Have to agree with most, it's a dog's name.

PotteringAlong · 16/08/2017 08:23

Dog or ghost. Not a boy.

OhTheRoses · 16/08/2017 08:25

Ridiculous.

skyzumarubble · 16/08/2017 08:27

Dog.
