Laurie or Arthur?

We are struggling with boys names as we have so many boys in our family and all the nice classic names have been used. Ds is called George. So ideas are:

Laurie James
Laurie Arthur
Arthur James
Laurie Arthur James
Laurence Arthur

Also, dh has an uncle Lawrence who is known as Larry. He only see him every few years, but don't want him to think we are naming ds after him!

Arrgghh, going round in circles.

This ds will be our rainbow baby as we lost our other ds at 20 weeks last year. We named him my absolute favourite boys name and I've been thinking about whether we could use it again, but I'm not sure if I could do it.

I love the name Laurie.

photographyaddict · 15/08/2017 21:42

Laurence Arthur sounds adorable on a little one and very professional on an adult Smile

Laurie is lovely

vintagegirl77 · 15/08/2017 21:53

Thank you.

Is Lawrence Arthur James a bit of a mouthful? We have a very short surname.

Laurence/Laurie is a lovely name, it's on my short list too. I lost my third son last year, at a similar stage to you, and like you named him with a name I love. I may use it as a middle name. I'm sorry for your loss and hope your rainbow brings you much joy. (My eldest is Arthur, btw, and I still love it!!)

vintagegirl77 · 15/08/2017 22:01

So sorry to hear that Molly, it's devastating isn't it. It's a scary time right now but trying to keep positive. Wishing you all the best for your pregnancy.

Lawrence / Laurence Arthur is lovely. But actually I like all your name combinations! Sorry, not helping...

MollyoftheFolly · 15/08/2017 22:13

Thank you, wishing you all the best too.

Sorry to hear about your loss Flowers

Laurence Arthur James is a beautiful and very dignified name. Unless your surname is extremely long and complicated I would definitely choose this. Then he can be Laurie if he likes but also has the choice. Lovely!

DramaAlpaca · 15/08/2017 22:39

Laurence is lovely, shortened to Laurie and combined with any of the other names. Good choices, OP.

early30smum · 15/08/2017 22:39

Sorry to hear about your loss. Flowers

All your names are lovely, but my favourite as a first name is definitely Arthur.

GrockleBocs · 15/08/2017 22:41

Laurence Arthur plus surname with nn Laurie is lovely.

Jooni · 16/08/2017 03:23

I'm so sorry for your loss, I can't even imagine Flowers

I love Laurie! Either short for Laurence or as a full name (I think I prefer just Laurie, but I know lots of people prefer a longer name to give him options). I'd go with Laurence/Laurie Arthur.

Bue · 16/08/2017 06:05

Laurence Arthur, most definitely.

Laurence/Laurie would have been DD's boy name and it's on our shortlist this time too.

Susiethetortoiseshellcat · 16/08/2017 07:45

Sorry for your loss and congratulations on your pregnancy.

I'm in the minority as I love Arthur James and think it goes really well with George.

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/08/2017 07:54

Laurence Arthur nn Laurie is so handsome. I like Arthur James too but we know several Arthur's and Arthur James just doesn't seem as special as Laurence Arthur

harrietm87 · 16/08/2017 08:08

Love Laurence Arthur! Beautiful strong name. And Laurie is less common than Arthur as a first name choice. Not too much of a mouthful to add James too either.

Sophronia · 16/08/2017 12:21

Laurence Arthur "Laurie" is perfect!

grufallosfriend · 16/08/2017 12:53

Arthur

Laurence is a girls name in France. Who knows if your ds might study or work there one day. I also don't like the nickname Laurie.

SumAndSubstance · 16/08/2017 18:16

Lawrence is a great name. I like Lawrence Arthur. Arthur James makes me think of James Arthur - did he win the X Factor one year? I doubt he'll ever be very famous, so it wouldn't matter I suppose!

sonlypuppyfat · 16/08/2017 18:23

No one introduces themselves with their full names do they? What does it matter if it's a mouthful
