What are your thoughts and impressions of Jasmine. How many do you know?

Only one, gets called Jazz. She's cool.good name.

TheScottishPlay · 14/08/2017 11:14

Seems bohemian and dated. Not quite due a comeback.
I know of one, mid twenties.

Tean1 · 14/08/2017 11:14

I think it's a lovely name and might have chosen it if my second child had been a daughter. I know only one Jasmine, she gets called Jazz too.

Coconutspongexo · 14/08/2017 11:15

I wouldn't especially with the remake of Aladdin coming out in 2018 too princessy ATM

SuperBeagle · 14/08/2017 11:18

Don't like it and never have.

My best friend had a really feral and ugly Siamese cat named Jasmine when we were younger. Could be the reason why I don't like the name.

Yellowgummybear · 14/08/2017 11:29

I know one, goes by Jas.

pilates · 14/08/2017 11:39

I like it

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/08/2017 11:48

Lovely, very pretty.

Callitquits · 14/08/2017 15:22

My girl is called Jasmine and she was named after princess Jasmine I love the name I think it's lovely

MammieBear · 14/08/2017 15:39

It a lovely floral name nothing wrong with it at all and if you like it go for it, it is classed as "a name a little girl will love"

mummytwoh · 14/08/2017 16:30

I think it's beautiful.
I know of two little jasmines one is 5 half Indian half English & probably the most beautiful little girl I've ever seen.
The other is 6 I think & bright blonde. Suits both

Rednailsandnaeknickers · 14/08/2017 16:39

It IS a pretty name but it's now been "Disney-fied" and as a PP said there's a new Aladdin movie due out next year so I wouldnt want to use it at the moment.
But if you love it and can fend off a year or so of enquiries "ooh did you call her after the princess?" then cool.

Thinking of my poor friend who called her daughter Elsa about 6 months before Frozen exploded into the global consciousness and the ice blue themed hell she has lived in ever since. Nearly Everybody gets her Frozen tat for every occasion Hmm

blueskyinmarch · 14/08/2017 16:41

My DD1 has a friend called Jasmine. She is half Indian and it really suits her somehow. She too gets called Jazz.

NoCapes · 14/08/2017 16:43

I love it, it's on my list
However I'm due in January and I didn't know there was an Aladdin remake coming out next year, so I probably won't use it now, how annoying - bloody Disney!

mamatiger83 · 14/08/2017 16:45

I know of 2, a 12 yo jasmine rose, she gets jazzy or jazz and a woman on my degree, I think it's a lovely name :)

Ropsleybunny · 14/08/2017 16:51

Lovely name.

Jooni · 14/08/2017 17:22

Beautiful and a little bit exotic without being too frilly. I love Yasmine too.

ilivebythesea · 14/08/2017 18:09

Love it, know 4 Jasmines between the ages of 6 and 14. Only one of them prefers to be called Jazz/Jas.

One of the less popular flower names at the moment. I would use it even with the Aladdin connection.

MikeUniformMike · 14/08/2017 20:22

I think it's lovely.

early30smum · 14/08/2017 21:09

I really like it! Was on my list for both of mine.

Viviennemary · 14/08/2017 21:42

I think it's quite nice. Not sure if I'd use it as it's a bit unusual.

Sophronia · 14/08/2017 22:19

I love it! I like Jasmina too.

I know this is an old forum but for future people naming their kiddos. As someone who was personally named Jasmine back in 1991, I can honestly say. No, it is not a good name. I have hated my name since I was a child. I am now 33 and my dislike for the name has only grown. I've thought about changing it for years legally but it's a big decision and also I don't want to hurt my mom, dad's passed away...but at the same time my people pleasing is hurting me. Next year if I am financially OK, may be the year I finally get brave enough to do it. I've done lots of research on the matter throughout the years. The names meaning itself is beautiful and relatable. However the name itself i can not relate to. It doesn't feel or sound like my name. I hate the way it sounds, I hate the way it writes, especially in cursive. The most common pronunciations I get throughout the years: Jasmeen, Jaz-mine, Jas-man, Jas-men but very rarely Jasmine(Jasmin) But again even if it were pronounced right, I hate the name and the sound of it. It was also commonly thought of as a low class ghetto name and a common stripper name as well. There is Jasmine rice, Jasmine flowers, Disney princess Jasmine....... Lots of Jasmine's out there. For those saying Yasmin. Holy cow way to make Jasmine sound decent. Say that aloud, it sounds like a dog vomiting. Not trying to be rude. Just honest. Just my own personal experience of 33 years and counting. Sincerely a very unhappily named, Jasmine.

sel2223 · 10/11/2024 14:05

I love it as a middle name, not so much as a first name

Wow. What an extreme reaction to an ordinary and pretty name. Why on earth resurrect a zombie thread just to say this?
You say it’s not a good name, but don’t say why… other than it doesn’t feel like ‘you’. No one on here is naming you though .

The Jasmine I know and love is beautiful and suits her name.
