I'm buckled up and ready for a flaming as both my other DCs names have evoked a Marmite-ian response on here in the past. But, thoughts on Egon? I like Schiele and DH likes Ghostbusters so could probably be persuaded on that basis. No German etc heritage in the family - does that matter? We're in the U.K.

No, good lord no. Poor kid, don't do it!

Cruciatus · 06/08/2017 11:33

Yes I thought of Egon Schiele too and therefore it's a go-for-it from me!

AmyGardner · 06/08/2017 11:34

Hard no. Sorry.

ooerrmissus · 06/08/2017 11:35

Are you fans of expensive restaurants? Grin

I quite like it. Go for it.

Longhairrrdontcare · 06/08/2017 11:40

@ooerrmissus Haha no we're more Egon Toast than Ronay Grin

My initial reaction was no, but I thought about it and actually the sound of it isn't unpleasant. I know some young children called Ivor and Otto, and it has a similar vibe to those.

Jooni · 06/08/2017 14:15

Never heard of it and don't like it, sorry. I'm not entirely sure how you pronounce it but it looks to me like "egg on". I like Eben though, which is quite similar.

Sophronia · 06/08/2017 17:30

Not keen. It's a variant of Eugene, which I prefer.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 06/08/2017 17:31

I absolutely love it!!

SleepingStandingUp · 06/08/2017 17:32

No no no

DH asked of it was a work in progress or the actual name haha

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 06/08/2017 17:34

My first thought was the scene in ghost busters where they fire up the proton pack and go "dooo...raaaay....Egooon"

So it's a no from me

Elbi · 06/08/2017 22:35

For me it sounds like an expression of surprise along the lines of 'ye gods!' but somehow I still quite like it....!

stillvicarinatutu · 06/08/2017 23:12

are you a game of thrones fan? id say unless your sir name is STARK its a no from me.

SheGotOffThePlane · 06/08/2017 23:15

Egon stark, still ??

I immediately thought of Spengler.

squoosh · 06/08/2017 23:25

Ronay is what I thought of.

chowmeinchick · 06/08/2017 23:52

If your last name is Toast

mathanxiety · 07/08/2017 01:11

I like it (and like Schiele too).

I knew a Berthold once, and it's far nicer than that.

awrightmylover · 07/08/2017 01:19

Schiele paintings are really dark though. Sorry but no.
Also pronunciation is gonna be an issue.

Crumbelina · 07/08/2017 07:41

"I collect spores, mould and fungus". Love Egon Spengler and Ghostbusters but sadly I think it would be a no from me.

Abingdon · 07/08/2017 12:25

Agree with stillvicarinatutu. My thought when I first saw it was a misspelled Game of Thrones reference... sorry!
