How many do you know? Is it becoming really popular like Noah? I really like it though still to convince DH, but i want to avoid ocerly popular as our daughter has a rarely used name

I know a 22 year old and a 16 year old Jonah. No little ones.

It's alright IMO, I still prefer Noah by miles though there's a reason why popular names are popular!

Mrscropley · 04/08/2017 08:22

We had a cat called Jonah - named after Lance's goldfish in Home and Away many years ago!!
Love it...
Wish i had kept it for a ds name!!

BoredOnMatLeave · 04/08/2017 08:29

I quite like it but I was in the GP yesterday on baby jab day and there were 2 Jonah's called in within about 20 mins of each other. Maybe a coincidence and I only know 2 under 5's. I do think it is becoming popular.

SuperBeagle · 04/08/2017 09:02

Reminds me of the Tongan from the show Summer Heights High. Not a great association, but a niche one.

Prefer Jonas.

Jooni · 04/08/2017 09:17

It's nice and I don't know any of any age, but I prefer Jonas too.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/08/2017 11:07

I don't know any, but also prefer Jonas.

Sophronia · 04/08/2017 11:51

I don't know any but also prefer Jonas!

LinoleumBlownapart · 04/08/2017 11:57

I love it. I know two Jonahs one is 13 and the other is 12. Both lovely boys.

Nanasueathome · 04/08/2017 12:05

My 5 year old grandson is Jonah
An absolute delight

2014newme · 04/08/2017 12:09

Obviously unfortunate connotations so no

KoalaDownUnder · 04/08/2017 15:18

I know a few. I don't like it. Reminds me of the name Joan, which is just so...droney.

Susiethetortoiseshellcat · 04/08/2017 15:46

I love it! Weirdly I hate Jonas, sounds really American and nowhere near as nice.

I know one under 2, definitely nowhere near as popular as Noah. Think it was below 150 in the last name charts.

PandaCat · 04/08/2017 17:45

I don't know anybody called Jonah

PearlyPinkNails · 04/08/2017 18:02

I like it but lots of people said it was unlucky, like a Jinx.

Put me right off.

auntym · 15/08/2017 19:40

I love it.

SunnySomer · 15/08/2017 19:43

I know one who is 20 and one who is 10. Both lovely.
Never met a Jonas.

Glumglowworm · 15/08/2017 19:59

I like it

I don't know any but most of the children I know are girls and 7+

user1483387154 · 15/08/2017 20:04

I love this name, I don;t know any Jonah's as over here it is Jonas (of which I know only 1)

Decaffstilltastesweird · 17/08/2017 15:37

I only know of one, who is a toddler. It's not as popular as Noah (yet, but who knows)? Didn't people say Ezra was going to be the next Noah? I know a few Ezras, but nothing like as many as Noah.

Choccyhobnob · 17/08/2017 15:55

I like it and don't know any but would be put off by the bad luck connection

BurgundyCloak · 17/08/2017 16:01

I know one, he's under 3 and lovely

grufallosfriend · 17/08/2017 16:03

Bad luck here too

Susiethetortoiseshellcat · 17/08/2017 19:45

The bad luck thing is silly and seems to be an older person thing. If you look at the bible story he's actually pretty lucky to survive! And it means dove/peace which I think is a lovely meaning.

Lozmatoz · 17/08/2017 21:06

I know one little Jonah, 4 yo

FartnissEverbeans · 17/08/2017 22:28

It's a nice name. I knew one at school but haven't met one since, and that's unusual for me as I've been teaching in secondary schools (so lots of kids) for a decade.

I kind of prefer Jonas though. Jonah sounds like too much of a good boy, if you see what I mean? Grin
