38 weeks and still can't decide on boys name

I'm due in 2 weeks and we found out at 16wks baby will be a boy. We had girls names sorted but despite weeks of trying I still can't find a boys name I love.

The main contenders currently are Lucas and Lewis. I like both names but don't love them. Other names we have considered include:

Oliver
Jack
Aaron
Aiden
Daniel
Liam
Dylan
Alex (DH likes this but I don't think it works with surname and don't like the longer Alexander)

Our surname is 3 syllables starting Ell so I think shorter names sound better

Help!

Lovely names. I like Jack and Aiden best from your list.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/08/2017 17:02

I wouldn't worry too much. I often think when you can't settle on a name. It means the baby has already name themselves. He'll probably come out with a name written all over him. Although it may not be one youve short listed.

early30smum · 03/08/2017 17:48

I like all of them except Aiden and Aaron.

Other short names: Jago, Luca, Hugo, Zak, Kai, Levi, Elliot, Sam, Max, Milo

Felix?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/08/2017 18:14

From your list, I like ;
Jack
Daniel
Dylan
Liam

Suggest - Caleb, Adam, Simon, Joseph, Louis, Rory and Russell.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/08/2017 18:19

I love Oliver Jack Daniel and Dylan.

Hate Aaron.

Louis is lovely, but don't like Lewis.

If the last name is Ell.....I would probably not use the softer L sound in the first name ideally.

So Jack.

Or Joseph, Adam, James, Ben, Thomas.

AdaColeman · 03/08/2017 18:21

My favourites from your list are Aiden and Aaron.

My least favourites are Dylan and Liam, and I'm not keen on Alex.

Alexkate2468 · 03/08/2017 18:24

Ted, Caleb, Caspar, Theo, Atticus, Henry

They're all names I love.

Snap8TheCat · 03/08/2017 18:25

The only one i like is Oliver but I don't think it works with your surname either. :-(

Imnotatypicalsausage · 03/08/2017 19:38

I work with kids and find Aiden and Liam naughty boy names (although other people will jump to disagree with me I'm sure!).

Oliver and jack are very popular - does that bother you?

Lucas and Lewis are nice. What about Luke, Louis, Luca, Laurence/Laurie, Alexis, Arran?

I also like babyspider's advice that he may well name himself Smile

chelle85 · 03/08/2017 20:03

Haha notatypicalsausage...I don't work with kids but said to my husband I think Jack is a naughty name. I have no idea why!!

Adam appears a couple of times in the suggestions above...quite like that. Levi is a bit of a family name but DH hates it. Not keen on Hugo, Caspar etc. Just sound too posh for a northerner lol.

Don't worry. DS was nameless for the first 6 days of his life. It happens more than you would think!

blinkineckmum · 03/08/2017 20:09

Dylan is my favourite from your list.

OrlandaFuriosa · 03/08/2017 20:13

Names used in the north.... colleagues etc..

Abram
Hadrian. Rather than Adrian
Leigh
Malcolm
Jacob as opposed to Jack
Branwell
Francis/Frank
Frederick/Derek
Stuart
Andrew
Julian
Mark
Christopher /Kit
Peter
Hector
Mungo

Tho the last are a bit er aspirational.. but I love Hector.

17caterpillars1mouse · 03/08/2017 20:16

I like Lucas :)

Have you considered Alexandru to get Alex or Alexis

akorda · 03/08/2017 20:44

Lewis is a great name IMO!
