What are your thoughts on Simeon for a boy?

I really like it. But then I like old fashioned names.

Rainybo · 31/07/2017 06:54

I prefer Simon, but I don't dislike Simeon.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 31/07/2017 06:56

I also prefer Simon, but do know an adult Simeon, around forty.

bilbobaggi · 31/07/2017 06:56

My tortoise is called Simeon! I love it as a name- do you know the story of Simeon? (Just in case anyone asks as he was an old man in the bible)

Elbi · 31/07/2017 07:01

As mentioned on a previous thread, I love the name Simeon and think Sim/Sims is a cool nickname but DH has vetoed as for some reason he thinks it's a 'weak' name... Also another poster on here pointed out it sounds like simian. I still love it though Smile

EmmyInTheSticks · 31/07/2017 07:11

I just think simian so imagine someone who looks like a monkey. Sorry!

SuperBeagle · 31/07/2017 08:24

Prefer Simon by a million miles.

MammieBear · 31/07/2017 09:31

Simeon is the original and it stops spelling confusion so for that reason I'd stick with the original moniker.

EyeDrops · 31/07/2017 09:51

I have a totally irrational dislike of it, sorry. There's a Simeon in the Bible (one of Joseph's brothers) and in a cartoon version I saw as a child, the Simeon was just really horrible. So I hear it and just think it sounds like a nasty person!

But I know that's bizarre so if you love it, go for it!

Sophronia · 31/07/2017 12:33

I prefer Simon. Simeon just makes me think of 'simian'.

Icewindfire98 · 31/07/2017 12:55

I prefer simian as a name

If using Simon spell it Simon

Good choice generally tho!

upperlimit · 31/07/2017 12:58

Yeah, I prefer Simon because of the similarity between Simeon and Simian.

WoofTweetWoofTweetWoofWoofWoof · 31/07/2017 13:23

I like it. Simon is a super boring name and Simeon is like a more interesting twist.

cricketqueen · 31/07/2017 14:24

I know someone called simeon it's not a terrible name. What is terrible is the nickname his gf has given him of simmy, makes him sound like a child or a dog imo.

workshyfop · 31/07/2017 14:26

I used to know someone called Simeon and he had rather simian features. Not worth the risk.

Mrsknackered · 31/07/2017 21:47

Is it the currency on Sims? I'm not sure but that's what I made me think.

I don't mind it though. Really like Solomon though, if that's any help!

toffee1000 · 31/07/2017 21:51

The currency on Sims is Simoleon, so not too close. Also think of "simian". More people will have heard of Simon so you may get people calling him that by mistake.
