Thoughts on Marceline? Is the NN Marcie too granny?

I'm not mad on Marceline, to be honest. It reminds me of margarine and marzipan. Sorry.

I don't mind Marcie though, it's much nicer than many of the granny chic names around.

whattheheckinheck · 25/07/2017 23:53

I like it! Marcie is nice too.

IHaveACrapCat · 26/07/2017 07:03

Love it

Rockandrollwithit · 26/07/2017 07:07

I like it.

Guccibelt · 26/07/2017 07:08

Never heard of it and not keen.

imsorryiasked · 26/07/2017 07:29

I prefer Marcia to Marceline.
I know one Marcia which is her full name rather than shortened version

TheHiphopopotamus · 26/07/2017 07:36

Marceline the vampire from Adventure Time.

I like it.

Mrsknackered · 26/07/2017 07:55

I'd say yes if Marcie is going to be used 99% of the time.
I don't like the 'leen' sound in Marceline.

Wheresthattomoibabber · 26/07/2017 07:56

The vampire queen

TinyRick · 26/07/2017 08:00

Marceline in Adventure Time is AWESOME.

I would definitely use it.

SarahJonesS · 26/07/2017 08:03

I love Marcie but I prefer Marcella (anglicised) to Marceline.

Scabetty · 26/07/2017 08:05

Is it pronounced leen or lin? I like Marcie as a nn.

coldcanary · 26/07/2017 08:06

I immediately thought of Adventure Time as well, she's a great character Grin
Marcie is a good short version too.

pynk · 26/07/2017 08:19

Is it pronounced leen or lin?

It's ok but I really like Marcie as NN

Joeybee · 26/07/2017 08:56

Sounds like an ointment or some medicinal product to me. Really not liking it.
Marcel/Marcie are nice nicknames for it.

Reden89 · 26/07/2017 09:17

Does make me think of Vaseline... if it's pronounced like that? I do think 'Marci/Marcy' is cute though for nickname x

PandaCat · 26/07/2017 09:33

I like it!

Makes me think of adventure time, and that isn't a bad thing!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 26/07/2017 09:34

Lovely, both Marceline/Marcie.
Also like Marcia and Marsha.

Sophronia · 26/07/2017 11:45

I like it!

Tifsy · 26/07/2017 12:48

Thanks for all the comments :) It's leen, as in Mar-Celine.

Love Marceline!

Also like Marcel for a boy.

ElizabethJeanMcBricker · 26/07/2017 15:51

Love it!! Great character!
Also like Lina for a possible nn, of you don't want Marcie

Tifsy · 26/07/2017 16:10

I love Marcel also but sadly it's a firm no from OH :(!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 26/07/2017 16:52

Tifsy, Celine (Celi), is also lovely !

mamabeak · 26/07/2017 18:40

Marceline is unusual, for the UK/English speaking world. I do not dislike it, or Marcie, but I think I prefer Marcella or Marsaili (mahr shu lee < difficult to quite replicate as it would be a palatal r not rolled, and the shu almost shaw but not quite).
