Rupert - a name that divides opinion! So, love or hate?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TheScottishPlay · 24/07/2017 13:49

Neither. Fond memories of the bear. Wouldn't use it as a child's name however.

milosmummy16 · 24/07/2017 13:50

Ahhh I like it, wouldn't use it myself but definitely a cute name!!

Imnotatypicalsausage · 24/07/2017 14:51

Nope

NuffSaidSam · 24/07/2017 14:52

I really, really don't like it.

I have a friend with a Rupert and every time she says his name I cringe a bit (inwardly, obviously).

IHopeYourCakeIsShit · 24/07/2017 14:53

I love it.

ExcitingButScaryTimesAhead · 24/07/2017 14:53

Not for a child. Mr Bean'so Teddy was called Rupert and Stewie'so Teddy from Family Guy was called Rupert and there was a children's cartoon character called Rupert the Bear.

grufallosfriend · 24/07/2017 15:15

I like it, i know a cool teenager called Rupert.

FfionFlorist · 24/07/2017 15:24

I like it but it is certainly a name to live up to and I'm not sure I'd do that to a child. Never met a Rupert who didn't live up to it though, a type of nominative determinism.

Nospringflower · 24/07/2017 15:33

Hate! Posh and wet!

Bumpitup44 · 24/07/2017 15:57

Love it!

PsychoPumpkin · 24/07/2017 15:58

I really really love it.

NerdyBird · 24/07/2017 16:01

my brother is a Rupert. He's not overly keen on it and people did tease him a bit about the bear character but it does kind of suit him. We are not at all posh.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/07/2017 16:48

Awful. Sorry OP, I really dislike the name.
How about Reuben ?

Brakebackcyclebot · 24/07/2017 16:49

Ugh

Sophronia · 24/07/2017 18:16

I like it. I know a very non-posh Rupert.

NotWeavingButDarning · 24/07/2017 18:19

Ugh. Not keen. At all.

MurrayMoo · 24/07/2017 18:22

Guccibelt · 24/07/2017 18:31

17caterpillars1mouse · 24/07/2017 20:02

Love it

MrsH193 · 24/07/2017 20:05

I really like it.

Mimipoo · 24/07/2017 21:21
