Annabelle, Francesca or Eleanora?

I'm 36 weeks along with DC2 and while DH and I been struggling with boys names the whole way through, we had pretty much settled on Annabelle for a girl.

Now we are having a wobble and reconsidering some others in our shortlist - I would be very interested in honest opinions!

Annabelle - we both like it (no mean feat) and has nice nicknames (Anna, Annie, Bel, Elle etc).

Francesca - I love it, DH not so sure. Don't really like Fran as a nickname but there are plenty of others (Chess, Chesca, Frankie etc) and she may end up with a nickname completely unrelated to her name anyway. My DBro would have been Francesca if he had been a girl and I think my DMum's love of the name has rubbed off a bit on me.

Eleanora - I have always quite liked Eleanor but not enough for it to be a serious contender. Came across Eleanora recently and absolutely love it. DH seems keen too. Seems to be quite uncommon compared to the other too.

Any thoughts very welcome!

This is outing for me but wth. Dd is Francesca Annabelle. Ds chose Francesca when we were 9 weeks along and it stuck. Annabelle was decided a few weeks after.
I know a lot of people don't like the double 'a' but it suits her. And we always get lovely comments.
Her nn at since birth has been frangiboo.
Just food for thought Francesca means free man and Annabelle means loveable.
I liked Eleanor as well but dp vetoed it.

Berrybakecake1 · 24/07/2017 13:14

Forgot to add we have a long surname that's french sounding. But it flows well.

ZigAZigAhh · 24/07/2017 13:19

Thanks Berry - Francesca Annabelle is beautiful (and I love Frangiboo)! We clearly have very similar taste in names Smile

Annabelle Wink

grufallosfriend · 24/07/2017 15:17

Love Eleanora! Beautiful and underused.

FfionFlorist · 24/07/2017 15:20

All pretty names. Like Annabel way more than Annabelle though. If you insist on Annabelle then my favourite is Francesca followed by Eleanora.

Glumglowworm · 24/07/2017 16:09

I really like Francesca with nicknames Chesca or Frankie

ChubbyMummy12 · 24/07/2017 16:15

Annabelle!!!

CharleyAnn · 24/07/2017 16:21

I love the name Francesca!

Annabelle is beautiful, although it always reminds me of the 90s baby doll I used to play with! Blush

HelenaJustina · 24/07/2017 16:26

I like Francesca, Annabelle/Annabel are 10 a penny round here!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/07/2017 16:43

Francesca (Fran).

CakeRattleandRoll · 24/07/2017 17:30

Francesca

Fontella · 24/07/2017 17:35

Francesca is by far my favourite of the three.

Not keen on Annabelle, and Eleanora is just Eleanor with an 'a' stuck on the end, and I much prefer 'Eleanor'.

SarahJonesS · 24/07/2017 18:11

I adore Francesca, I don't like your other two names.

Arabella is similar, what about that? (just to be annoying of course)

Sophronia · 24/07/2017 18:17

Eleanora, but I prefer just Eleanor.

Threeandabit · 24/07/2017 18:36

I like Annabelle best I think. I am torn between Annabelle and Francesca.

WannaBeDelgadaToFitInToMyPrada · 24/07/2017 18:44

Annabel or Eleanor. Leonor is lovely too.

Dont like Francesca.

ZigAZigAhh · 24/07/2017 21:02

Thank you all very much for your replies - looks like a pretty even split between Annabelle and Francesca at the moment (which is exactly how it is in my head!)

DH has now said he likes both equally so no help there Hmm

Sarah - we did consider Arabella for DC1 (who ended up being a boy) - I love it on paper but for some reason can't imagine us actually using it, whereas having a daughter called Annabelle or Francesca appears a lot more "real" in my mind if that makes sense (probably not!!)

I love Francesca.

I like it with single syllable middle names like

Francesca Rose
Francesca Grace
Francesca Eve

I also love Chesca as a nn.

BewareOfTheToddler · 24/07/2017 21:09

I like Annabelle and Francesca best, though be prepared for some mangling of the name if you go for the latter.

I'm less keen on Eleanora as it isn't immediately obvious to me how to pronounce it - Eleanor-a? E-le-a-nora?

I prefer Elinor or Leonora, personally.

lazycrazyhazy · 24/07/2017 21:35

Berry our eldest daughter is Annabel Francesca! We went for the British spelling as our surname is Scottish and Not at all French.

lazycrazyhazy · 24/07/2017 21:36

My Annabel is 34 there were very few then.

DramaAlpaca · 24/07/2017 21:39

Eleanor is unusual & lovely.

I find Annabelle a bit frilly & prefer just Annabel.

I'm not mad on Francesca.

Ragusa · 24/07/2017 21:40

For me Annabel (not -le). I find the others too frilly but really it's down to personal preference.
