Robin

What do you think of Robin - nn Bobby?

Other boy choices are Frederick nn Freddie or Jake but not as keen on Jacob

Older sister has a longer name with a more commonly used nickname so we'd like the same if DC2 is a boy

Any other suggestions along these lines?

Robin is a pet form of Robert. Bobby is a pet form of Robert.
Not keen on Frederick or Fred. Freddie is cute.
I like Jake and Jacob but you could have Jaques (pron. Jake-wis), or Iago/Jago or James as a long name. (Jacob and James are different versions of the same name).

Personally, I would go for just Jake.

Jooni · 19/07/2017 16:43

Love Robin, like Frederick. Not keen on Jake or Jacob.

Jaques/Jacques is not pronounced "Jake-wis" surely! Isn't it "zhak"?

MikeUniformMike · 19/07/2017 16:45

Jaques is, Jacques isn't.
Both may be pronounced Zhak.
Jaques is a shakespearian character.

Jooni · 19/07/2017 16:49

Ooh, you learn something new every day! I quite like Jaques in that case, but I don't think many will know to use the Shakespearean pronunciation.

MikeUniformMike · 19/07/2017 16:52

It would probably get no end of mispronouncing and correction but I do like it.

Joinourclub · 19/07/2017 16:56

Bobby is cute and Robin is much nicer than Robert.

bridgetreilly · 19/07/2017 17:07

I like Robin much better than Robert. I'd probably shorten it to Rob, but Bobby is fine.

Mulch · 19/07/2017 17:11

I adore the name Robin my other half vetoed it sadly

MoHunter · 19/07/2017 18:15

I have a Robin (DS1) so slightly biased, but yes love Robin, not many of them around but everyone knows how to spell and pronounce it. 😁
Have had many comments on what a nice name it is. We just call him Robin but expect he may become Rob or Bobby when older maybe.

Glumglowworm · 19/07/2017 18:20

I like Robin but not Bobby, Robin on its own is much nicer

I'm not a fan of Frederick or Freddie but I like Jake or Jacob

mortificado · 19/07/2017 18:23

Love robin. Not so keen on bobby seems a really common name here and nearly every other child is called it

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/07/2017 16:45

Prefer Freddie.
