Is it just too 'Harry Potter'? How about Grace Hermione?

I love Hermione and always have even before HP

MrsHathaway · 15/07/2017 13:41

I think it's very HP but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I'm not sure how one wears it day to day - if you are the kind of family that affectionately shortens names, where does it go?

Grace is a very popular name and although it's great as a middle name I wouldn't recommend it as a first name any more - think Sarah or Laura for 1980s babies Grin

ConstanceCraving · 15/07/2017 13:47

Nice as a middle name. Still very HP though.

bluediamonds · 15/07/2017 13:51

Just go for it if you like it. Don't worry about HP.

Btw I like the name. Classy!

2014newme · 15/07/2017 13:55

It is a pleasant name but it does scream HP

2014newme · 15/07/2017 13:55

Grace is the name people choose when they can't think if anything else

AnOwlJustDreaming · 15/07/2017 14:03

That isn't true Hmm Grace has been one of my favourites for years. It also doesn't scream a certain time period...

I kind of understand what 2014 means. Grace is perfectly nice but is a little unimaginative and safe.

But if you like it then that's what matters here OP.

Turquoisetamborine · 15/07/2017 14:07

I really really don't like it but I think I'm in the minority.

SuperBeagle · 15/07/2017 14:10

I don't like Hermione at all, and yes, to me it's very HP.

Rainontheflowers · 15/07/2017 14:12

I like it as a middle name, although it does make me think of Harrry Potter.

MrsHathaway · 15/07/2017 14:19

It's annoying when something you've liked forever gets super popular, but that doesn't change its popularity. Nothing wrong with being a 1980s Sarah Jane but every third child in her class will be Grace or Rose somewhere on the birth certificate.

Sophronia · 15/07/2017 15:57

It has a nice sound. I like it.

MikeUniformMike · 15/07/2017 15:57

Too HP.

Strawberryshortcake40 · 15/07/2017 16:00

I have a Hermione. It's shortened to H or Miney (poss outing myself here!). It was chosen from a list I had of names from Shakespeare plays (it's from A Winter's Tale) but we were happy with the HP link too.

Not easy to learn to write and we get a lot of birthday cards, etc with it wrongly spelt.

userofthiswebsite · 15/07/2017 16:05

Probably will get jokes in the playground, like 'Where's Harry?' 'Are you going to marry Ron?' and such like.

Might get a little tedious for her...

trinitybleu · 15/07/2017 16:56

I love it.

And agree with 2014. Every other child seems to be Something Grace. And here it's Olivia Grace or Eve Grace a gogo.

AnOwlJustDreaming · 15/07/2017 17:12

Yeah but Grace wouldn't be the middle name.

I think Hermione Grace is lovely.

My dd has a name made popular by Frozen, some people mention it, most don't and she really suits it.

Jooni · 15/07/2017 18:11

I absolutely adore the name Hermione! Sadly, a friend got there first but it's so fab. Grace is very "meh" in comparison, sorry.

Morecaffeineplease · 15/07/2017 20:38

I think it's a beautiful name.

My oldest dearest friend has a Grace and my Godson's mother is a Hermione.

Those 2 names remind me of lovely people I have in my life Smile

monkeyfacegrace · 15/07/2017 20:42

Dd is Grace Olivia Grin

She's 10. She's the only Grace in her entire school. Considering I was a 19 year old single mum (and a complete chav at the time), I feel I could have done worse Grin

I like Hermione. Even if I do want to pronounce it Herm-ee-own.

PodgeBod · 17/07/2017 09:48

I don't like Hermione. It's very Harry Potter but I just don't think it's an attractive name, anyway.
Grace I do like. It's simple, classic and elegant.

PhilippeFlop · 17/07/2017 11:27

I know a Hermione nn Minnie, I love it

PancakesAndMapleSyrup · 17/07/2017 11:39

Honestly the Harry potter thing is more of an issue with the mums. I have a Hermione and she loves her name and the fact that she is the only one in school with it!. She is also rather proud to be associated with Hermione Granger as she is a clever clogs. We have had no issues at all with it and it is a lovley name. Go for it!.
