Gabriel or James

I like Gabriel, my husband loves James. I really like James but there seem to be so many of them about. My 2 other boys are Jude and Finlay and I think Gabriel goes better with them. Any thoughts?

I'd go for Gabriel. I wouldn't want 2 children with the same initial. James is also very boring.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 13/07/2017 15:24

Gabriel does seem to go with your other names better, but I much prefer the name James.

Justhadmyhaircut · 13/07/2017 15:27

I have a Gabriel and a Fynn so am biased!!

greendale17 · 13/07/2017 15:29

Gabriel

bluechameleon · 13/07/2017 15:55

I like both, but agree that you don't really want two boys with J names.

Dontwaketheneighbours · 13/07/2017 15:58

Thanks everyone :)

Gabriel goes better with the other names

Jooni · 13/07/2017 16:26

Gabriel goes best, and is much more interesting. I do really like James but there are such a lot of them.

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/07/2017 16:29

If you like Gabriel but your husband loves James then I'd go with James. I don't know any James's under 20 if that helps wheteas I know 3 Gabriel's

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/07/2017 16:35

James

sugarhoneyicetea · 13/07/2017 16:36

Gabriel definitely. Gabriel with James as a middle name is lovely - use both!

Vintageproblem · 13/07/2017 16:41

I have a Finlay Gabriel, I think it works well.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/07/2017 16:48

Gabriel-James

DramaAlpaca · 13/07/2017 16:50

Gabriel goes best with your other two names, but James is my all time favourite name.

Go for Gabriel James.

grufallosfriend · 13/07/2017 17:01

Gabriel is much more interesting, James is a little dull in comparison

pericat · 13/07/2017 17:07

I have a James . He is just ending year 10 and has never been in the same class/group/set as another James.

Dontwaketheneighbours · 13/07/2017 18:02

Thanks everyone, he will definitely either be Gabriel James or James Gabriel. I'll have to work on the hubby 😉

James

photographyaddict · 13/07/2017 18:28

James Gabriel sounds lovely!

HollywoodStunt · 13/07/2017 18:38

Why are some people pedantic enough to not want two children with the same initial, what difference does it make as long as you like the names? Don't understand the problem

TurquoiseOwl · 13/07/2017 18:39

Well, I wouldn't want 2 and not the other. Also, I have the same initial as my sister - we always have to open each other's post.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/07/2017 19:30

Gabriel is also becoming very popular
If that bothers you

villainousbroodmare · 13/07/2017 19:37

I find Gabriel very feminine (do like the name Gabrielle though) and dislike Gabe, Gabs, Gay etc as shortenings. I love James and also really like Jim and Jamie.

villainousbroodmare · 13/07/2017 19:40

I also don't think it is especially important that names go together. Just that they are not awfully similar or radically different in type. James or Gabriel will not be accompanied by his siblings all that much in his life.

Topseyt · 13/07/2017 20:04

James for me. Maybe James Gabriel, but I definitely lean towards James.
