Struggling with boy names

LJFM2B · 13/07/2017 10:12

So we have started 'the list' we have managed to get around 10 girls names (around 3 we love and the rest we like) but only 4 boys names and we dont really love any of them.

Im finding it hard to get something thats easily recognised but not to common ... im not overly keen on american names but my DH isnt massive on old fashion english names (although he does like English names just not the older names like Albert & Arthur that i like ) so we need to meet in the middle William is our top boys name right now along with Alfie Joey and Oliver

Any ideas for us? help

Joshua?

SleepFreeZone · 13/07/2017 13:03

Names I hear everywhere at the mo are Jacob, Joshua, Jack, Olly, Teddy, Harry. So I'd be avoiding those.

Names I like and although popular I don't hear currently are Oscar, Elliot,

SleepFreeZone · 13/07/2017 13:05

Posted too soon! I also like Monty (Montgomery). OH likes Carter and Gabriel but I'm not keen on the nicknames.

grufallosfriend · 13/07/2017 13:12

You say you don't want a 'too common' name. I'd avoid Ollie (Oliver), Alfie and Will/Willy (William) as they're very common round here.

grufallosfriend · 13/07/2017 13:13

Gabriel and Montgomery are great!

TonicAndTonic · 13/07/2017 17:20

Thinking of people I know with young sons, Noah, Harry and Toby all seem to be massively popular at the moment. So they may be ones to avoid!
