Gabrielle vs Gabriella ?

Which one sounds better and how do you pronounce it ga-bri-elle or gay-bri-elle.

Love both but Gabriella just pips it.

But Gabrielle (Ga-bree -ELLE) is a lovely name too. Bear in mind that even if you don't shorten it, your DD might, and Ella/Elle are possibilities as well as Gabby/Gabi...:

It might depend on your surname though as Gabriella is quite a long name.

Surname begins with A it's four syllables with three A's.

What about the spelling I have seen it spelt it gabriela and gabriele (spanish) they looks a bit weird to me though and seem like they should have two l's.

I'd avoid Gabriella if your surname begins with A. My mums first name ended with the same letter that her surname started with and she hated it. Most people say names quickly and with little stress on a space between names, said her name sounded like just one word.

For some reason, the extra syllable in Gabriella makes all the difference in me not liking it.

Gabrielle was my choice as soon as I saw the thread title. Seeing that your surname begins with 'a', I'd definitely avoid a first name that ends in 'a'.

Gabrielle is the French form and is a female name, not a "non gender type name".
If your surname starts with A then I'd go with Gabrielle.

Much prefer Gabrielle. It's our second choice name for a girl! Love it.

AFAIK Gabriele is a boy's name... I worked with an Italain male Gabriele (Gab-ri-el-leh)

I had a similar dilemma a couple of weeks ago over Raphaela versus Raphaelle. Definitely going with Raphaela and I prefer Gabriella.

They're both so pretty! It's hard to decide. Gabriella maybe slightly over Gabrielle but I don't think you can go wrong with either one xx

I have a name which ends in -elle and many people assume it's actually the -ella version. This is even after I've introduced myself clearly. This is especially likely to happen to your DD with a surname which beguns with A. When you say Gabrielle 'your surname' I think it will sound like Gabriella.

Both lovely names - just pick which one you prefer
