Amabella, Arabella or Bella

Trying to find a nice girly middle name. I love Belle and names that end Bella but not so made on Anna hence ruled out Annabella/Annabelle. Amabel is a very old name (it's where Mabel comes from). It's older than the more common anabel and I love it but my husband thinks the m spelling sounds made up!

Clarabel or Mabel

Stardustandicecream · 10/07/2017 00:56

Oh I like clarabel - so sweet and underused

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 10/07/2017 00:59

Clarabel just reminds me of the Disney cow.

Stardustandicecream · 10/07/2017 01:04

Not a U.K. Reference and younger generations don't have that either

TheMysteriousJackelope · 10/07/2017 01:05

I wouldn't use Amabel because one of the heroines in Old St. Paul's was called Amabel and she came to a sad end.

Clarabel is one of the carriages in Thomas the Tank Engine.

Disney is worldwide; not just American. I'm also only in my twenties and Clarabel the Disney cow is very much known.

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 10/07/2017 01:27

Arabella is beautiful.

Kazzawazza69 · 10/07/2017 06:22

I'm a big Disney fan and never heard of Clarabel the cow!

Love Arabella and actually don't mind Amabella but it might get mistaken as a mis-spelllug

thethoughtfox · 10/07/2017 08:57

Amabella sounds like 'I'm a Bella' Your child will sound like a child named Bella who has poor communication skills. The other names are lovely.

summerbaby2017 · 10/07/2017 10:10

Thanks for your suggestions and opinions. Think Amabella is definitely out then! Or what are your thoughts on the name Ursula, it's family name on husband's side so feel should honour it but Bella is so much nicer!!

I prefer Ursula to Bella, which I'm really not keen on tbh. Though obviously you love it, so who cares what I think?

I do like family names as middle names. You rarely say the middle name out loud so it's quite nice for it to have some other significance imoZ

Decaffstilltastesweird · 10/07/2017 10:41

Imo*. ImoZ looks like text speak! Lolz, soz, tomoz Sad.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 10/07/2017 10:42

Smile not Sad ffs

TurquoiseOwl · 10/07/2017 10:43

I hate Ursula Blush

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 10/07/2017 11:17

I hate Ursula. I think it's too harsh and abrupt. Makes me think of an evil queen.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 10/07/2017 11:21

what

Do you mean the sea witch from little mermaid? Not a great association admittedly, though I happen to prefer her to Bella Swan myself - I have an irrational Twilight hatred.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 10/07/2017 11:24

Decaffstilltastesweird There's that, too. I wasn't thinking of her; it just reminds me of an evil queen type of name!

summerbaby2017 · 10/07/2017 11:34

That's my worry I don't mind Ursula it it isn't that soft or feminine sounding

I love Arrabella! Amabella will be always misheard as Annabella which I don't think is nearly as nice as any of your names.

MikeUniformMike · 10/07/2017 13:55

It's Arabella not Arrabella.

SoftSheen · 10/07/2017 13:58

Arabel, or Isabel?

MikeUniformMike · 10/07/2017 15:04

Arabel sounds like a form of farming and looks like a typo.

GreySloanMemorial · 10/07/2017 17:36

Arabella reminds me of the Arctic Monkeys song.
