What does everyone think of Arabella? Our other final option is Mila (mee la). Which do you prefer?

Mila

ShutupanddriveM5 · 06/07/2017 16:51

I have friends with daughters with both these ages and I never warmed to the name Arabella it seems a bit much to me sorry and inevitably becomes Bella...I love Mila though xx

PopcornBits · 06/07/2017 16:51

I called mine Mila, no end of pronunciation problems.

Everybody in England thinks its pronounced My-la, but whenever we go on holiday anywhere they instantly pronounce it right!

Mila means sweet in Croatia by the way :)

I like the name but be prepared for everyone to say it wrong.

Arabella sounds like a dolls name to me Blush

I love the name Mila! I only know 2, one would now be a teenager, the other is 2.

Sophronia · 07/07/2017 01:37

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 07/07/2017 01:39

KoalaDownUnder · 07/07/2017 01:42

Mila

Arabella is a bit...much. For me.

TheDowagerCuntess · 07/07/2017 02:23

Arabella is too frilly. And I think the world officially has enough Bellas.

Starfairylights · 07/07/2017 02:29

Arabella. I like it.

SuperBeagle · 07/07/2017 04:22

Love Arabella, don't like Mila at all.

Do like Mia though...

Mila (MEE-la pronunciation!).

regularbutpanickingabit · 07/07/2017 06:11

Mila is beautiful. Arabella sounds spoilt!

MrsGB2225 · 07/07/2017 06:24

Arabella

LottieDoubtie · 07/07/2017 06:43

I love Arabella, and IME there are other nicknames than Bella that are equally likely.

That said I wouldn't actually use the name- unless I was definitely the sort of person that has SO much money I only really mix with people who think arabella is a totally normal name. Which I'm not!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 07/07/2017 07:37

In fairness, I knew a non-spoilt, non-rich, cool Arabella with a nose ring and loads of black curly hair at uni. But I always thought "that's not your name" when I said it! She really didn't suit it. She was too cool for it!

LottieDoubtie · 07/07/2017 08:18

I had a friend like that at uni decaff although she wasn't actually called Arabella she was called similar

Met her again just after graduation at her parents house in London. Let's just say she's hidden her wealth bloody well at uni!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 07/07/2017 08:24

That's probably true lottie! I haven't seen her since uni. Maybe she's currently residing in Mayfair, with her daughter Arraminta, sans nose ring Grin? If only they knew what she was like at uni! Smoked roll ups and everything Shock. We had our fair share of what my tutor called 'trustifarians' at uni, so maybe she was one of those, incognito.
