Boy name by tomorrow!

I have been totally useless in choosing a name for baby boy aged 5 weeks!

We are registering him tomorrow...

Names are:

Gilbert (Gil)
Hugo/Hugh (Hughie)
Magnus

DP wants Gilbert - says if not, up to me to choose whatever I want

Other children are Fraser and Lula....

Opinions gratefully received!

I love Magnus, but Hugo is lovely too. Could you use Gilbert as a mn?

Hmm... thank you all.

He does seem to quite suit Gilbert but I'm not sure if I like it!

Magnus you may have to grow into but I like it. He's a big chap but seems too pretty for Magnus?!

It's so hard when you don't have an instinct about any name!

I like them all! Sorry, not helpful. Gilbert slightly edges it for me. I think it'll be less common than Hugo or Magnus

I prefer plain Gil but how about Gillespie if you're not sure about Gilbert?

I love Hugo & think it sounds best with your other children's names.

But my mum told me she once knew a very lovely hugo who was also very fat and was known as huge-o as a result. She said that made her worry she'd be giving ammunition to bullies in the event her boys were overweight so she never used the name in spite or her liking it and her affection for the man she knew.

The only one I dislike is Hugo. Hugo and Lula sound too similar/rhymey.

Love Magnus and like Gilbert/Gil.

I think they're all great. In order:

Gilbert
Hugo
Magnus
Hugh

But really, Gilbert because of Gilbert Blythe. Awesome choice!

I really love all three and they all go great with your others! I think I love Hugo the most by a very tiny margin. Then Gil (only because Gilbert is seen as slightly more out-there) and then Magnus. Great names!

Definitely Gilbert. Lovely. And your DH likes it, and it suits him. Why would you choose any other name?

I do like your other two choices, actually, but as Gilbert has so much going for it, I would just go with it, if I were you.

I would suggest Magnus. It's strong and will wear well into adulthood.

I know two men named Hugh. Both hated it as people would call them "Huge".

Gilbert reminds me of Old Gil from The Simpsons who is an absolute failure at life. Also Gilbert O'Sullivan that singer from the 70s.

I love be Magnus!

(But hate Gilbert, especially the Gil part although Bert isn't so nice either)
