Please help with a name!

We had a first and middle name sorted but OH has changed his mind at the last minute because his friend doesn't like the nameHmmeven though not everyone will like whatever name we decide anyway so it's annoying.

We don't like the too common Josh's, James etc but don't want something people don't know how to pronounce/never heard of.

Middle name will still probably be Alex.

He's due in 3 weeks and it's stressing me out.

Thanks everyone.

What was the original name?
Also what names do you like except for Alex?

Mrsknackered · 02/07/2017 22:54

A bit of an idea on names you do like might be helpful!

But to start us off maybe:

Caspar
Frank
Oakley
Angus
Maxim
Kit
Esa/Issa

Alfred

This one is easy. You stick with the name that your OH has changed his mind on because he was silly enough to mention it to a friend, or you demand that he come to you with a shortlist of names and you can give your opinions on them until you find one you like.

I second the name Oakley!

ShmooBooMoo · 03/07/2017 00:19

Michael (not over-used and such a classic)

Nathan

William

I knew an Oakley... nice name but not sure Oakley Alex goes.

NuffSaidSam · 03/07/2017 00:55

Underused classics:

Peter
David
Andrew
Phillip
Damien
Bartholomew
Richard
Timothy
Dominic
Gabriel
Edwin
Stephen
Michael
Quentin
Gregory
Marcus
Robert
Christopher
Jonathan

More unusual, but can still say and spell:

Magnus
Bailey
Roman
Jago
Hunter
Eden
Valentine
Archer
Ivo
Horatio
Clyde
Harrison
Bennett
Arlo

If you both like Alex enough to definitely keep as a middle name have you thought about using it as a first name? :)

Although I agree you shouldn't change it!! I couldn't give a flying fig how many people don't like the boys name I have chosen, he is my son and I will name him the name me and DH love

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/07/2017 10:33

Daniel Alex
Robin Alex
Shane Alex
Nathan Alex

Mrsknackered · 03/07/2017 10:53

Come back OP!

SerfTerf · 03/07/2017 14:51

Oh no, don't saddle the poor mite with a name like Oakley!

Kazzawazza69 · 03/07/2017 15:46

My DH had a last minute wobble on our DS2's middle name a couple of days before I was induced. I told him he had to come up with a list of alternatives for me to pick from. I suggest you do the same, although if you were set on the original name definitely push for that!
