Thoughts on Natalie?

I'm expecting a baby due around Xmas time and I love this name. It's a family name and is very sentimental to me.

I do like the variant Natalia but it just doesn't work with my other DC's names (too frilly/fancy) so it would really have to be Natalie.

What do you think?

Natalie is a lovely name, I don't find it dated at all.

KatherinaMinola · 02/07/2017 22:45

Lovely traditional name, especially for a Christmas baby.

Mrsknackered · 02/07/2017 22:49

In my breastfeeding group 5 years ago with my DS1, everyone was saying there baby's names. I remember being really shocked when a lady said Natalie.
My mum has multiple friends called Natalie, I don't know anyone younger than 40 called it. It is dated, but I think it's quite a nice sounding name.

MikeUniformMike · 02/07/2017 22:51

It's pretty. If you like it then why not?
Tally as a nn instead of Nat? Are you ok with the Na'alie or Natterley pronunciation?

Jezzifishie · 02/07/2017 22:58

My DD is Natalie (toddler age). Loved the name when pregnant, still love it now. No regrets! Only slight issue - my name is quite 'in' right now, and when I'm introducing both of us it's often assumed that I'm the Natalie ;-)

Jenna43 · 02/07/2017 23:02

Lovely name.

ElusiveDuck · 02/07/2017 23:14

Not my usual style, but I really like this name. Nn could be Nat, Ali, Talie...

Ceebs85 · 03/07/2017 00:21

Ooh 6 weeks to go for me. This could be a contender. We found out on Christmas eve that I was pregnant and told family on Christmas day so it feels sort of apt. DP will veto it....as he does every other name I like!

Jooni · 03/07/2017 03:21

I like it, and love Nat. It's a nice subtle Christmas name too.

hophop333 · 03/07/2017 05:46

80's

Footle · 03/07/2017 12:13

80s? Your point is? That's 30-40 years ago. A lovely name that's due for revival.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 03/07/2017 12:16

Love Natalie! And never hear it anymore (as a child's name) so yes bring it back!

regularbutpanickingabit · 03/07/2017 12:36

Pretty!

hophop333 · 03/07/2017 12:51

My point is that it was a name that peak in the 80s and isn't yet due a revival! This generations parents are called names like Natalie, the names that have had a recent revival are older- grandparents generation. When you picture a Natalie it would be someone in their 30's and hard to imagine on a baby.

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 03/07/2017 13:05

I know a 25 yo Natalie, NN Tilly, and a 23yo Natalie, NN Nat. I think it's a beautiful name!

LucyLastik · 03/07/2017 13:09

I have a 13 year old Natalie ❤️

greendale17 · 03/07/2017 13:15

No, just no

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/07/2017 13:16

I love it. I think its certainly due a come back, and As you're probably aware. It means born at Christmas.
So, It fits perfectly

cherrylove · 03/07/2017 13:53

I love the name Natalie.

niceandspicey · 03/07/2017 14:06

I love Tally as a nn for Natalie

DrinkMilkAndKickAss · 03/07/2017 14:22

I know a few of different ages under 20 ish, I don't think it's as uncommon for younger people as PPs are making out. I think it's more along the lines of meeting a baby Rachel or Louise than, say, Kelly, which IMO is more specific to a particular timeframe. I think it's a lovely name when pronounced properly but a friend with a teenage Natalie has to put up with a lot of "nat-leeee" where the middle syllable disappears!

NikiBabe · 03/07/2017 15:20

I hated the Natalies I knew.

Natasha is a bit nicer.

Lemondrop99 · 03/07/2017 15:39

Not keen personally. But that's probably because I went to school with a Natalie who was a total cow and I really dislike Naaaaaaaaaaat (which is how it was always said). I suppose it could be quite a pretty name though, if you don't have bad association with it. She'll also likely be the only one in her class, without having to resort to a 'yooniq' name

mintich · 03/07/2017 15:40

I like it! Also like Nadia

17caterpillars1mouse · 04/07/2017 08:38

I really really like it. Good choice op
