I love Sybil but DH has vetoed it Sad

DownUdderer · 30/06/2017 13:05

Not keen on Percival

crazypenguinlady · 30/06/2017 14:01

I like Lucas and Samson is okay.

Joinourclub · 30/06/2017 14:08

I like Florrie,Effie, Jude and Kit. All the others are Meh or grim.

Justhadmyhaircut · 30/06/2017 14:10

Sybil for a girl..
And Basil for a boy.

Grin

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 30/06/2017 14:19

Georgette and Indiana only.

anniebambammie · 30/06/2017 14:26

Elspeth and Lucas

alpacasandwich · 30/06/2017 14:27

The girls' names all sound a bit "Victorian servant girl" to me. Also I don't understand how you can force a nickname, they seem to just naturally happen?

At a push, Sybil but spelt correctly!

noodlebum · 30/06/2017 14:37

Out of those names I like Georgette, Jude, Samson, Lucas and Indiana

Lovegaultier · 30/06/2017 14:41

Unusual names and im afraid I made an involuntary face at some of them ie Ethel, Elspeth and Percival. I do like Jude.

DramaAlpaca · 30/06/2017 14:45

I love Sybil (with that spelling) and I like Lucas and Jude too.

The rest are not my style at all, and most of them made me wince when I read them. Sorry!

smartyclogs · 30/06/2017 14:52

I'm afraid I dislike all of them.
Sybil is particularly awful and I can never understand why so many like it (on Mn). All sound too posh to my ears.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 30/06/2017 14:56

Georgette and Jude are ok.

The others I wouldn't use unless you intend to be in private education.... (and I have 2 dc with horrifically aspirational names...)

Fav girls name is florri and I also like florrianne
I was called Sybil in Victorian week a a child at primary and i hated it! Ha! Remember by bf was given the name Sadie which I thought was much kinder ha!

Like Lucas Jude and Abel (Abel much less common)

BackforGood · 30/06/2017 15:44

erm.... well, Lucas is OK.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 30/06/2017 15:46

Wow! I think they're all VERY try-hard, except for Lucas.

AmysTiara · 30/06/2017 15:46

Abel, Jude and Lucas are nice. Really don't like any of the other names sorry.

Mothervulva · 30/06/2017 15:49

I have an Elspeth we call Effie as DD1 couldn't say her name.

Abel is my favourite of your boys.

soundsystem · 30/06/2017 15:49

We have very similar taste in names!

Peregrine nn Pip is my favourite (was vetoed by DH). Jude is DH's favourite (I like it but our DS didn't look like a Jude). Crispin nn Kit I also really like.

Elspeth and Florrie are my favourites from your girls. I really dislike Tallulah (and I can cant really explain why, sorry!)

Elbi · 30/06/2017 20:58

Sybil and Samson. Lovely.

Tattybogle89 · 30/06/2017 21:01

Only like Jude.
Dont mind Lucas but personally reminds me or mucus.
And georgette sounds like courgette...

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 30/06/2017 22:46

Love Percival and Peregrine and Crispin! Great names.

BewareOfTheToddler · 30/06/2017 22:52

Love Elspeth! Also like Sybil (but spelled like this).

Of the boys' names, I love Jude and Lucas.

Not so keen on the others - sorry! Really not a fan of Georgette (reminds me of Georgette Heyer) and Abel has bad associations for me.

Ethel might just catch on - it sounds very granny-chic and almost fashionable, and Effie (or Eggie, as my phone would have it Grin) is rather nice.

NuffSaidSam · 30/06/2017 22:54

Sibyl - no
Floriana nn Florrie - no
Georgette - no (although I do like Georgie)
Ethel nn Effie - no, but I do like Effie
Elspeth nn Essie - no
Tallulah - no, but it's possible the best of a bad bunch.

Percival - I really like Percy, but I know it's not widely liked.
Jude - love it
Abel - like it
Samson nn Sammy - like Sam/Sammy, but prefer Samuel.
Peregrine nn Pip - no
Lucas - it's not to my taste, but perfectly fine.
Indiana - I quite like it for a girl
Crispin nn Kit - It's fine as a surname.

I'd go with Georgie or Tallulah and Jude or Abel.
