Not pregnant or anything just inspired by the Celestial names thread.

I really like Jocasta which means Shining Moon.

Ignoring the Oedipus connection what dp we think?

I really like it but wouldn't use as I dislike Jo

No

I find it impossible to ignore the Oedipus connection!!
I know there's a couple of websites out there which claim that it means shining moon (there's also some that say it means 'happy' and several saying 'meaning unknown, as does my Oxford names dictionary), but I can't see any reason why it would mean that. I even dug out my Greek dictionary to check! Happy to be enlightened.
Otherwise, I think it's pretty enough name.

It's lovely.
And could be Cassie for short.

NeverTooOldForAnything · 30/06/2017 14:30

I couldn't get past the Oedipus connection

Thatextrainch · 30/06/2017 14:31

I love it

DramaAlpaca · 30/06/2017 14:32

I also can't get past the Oedipus connection.

Sophronia · 30/06/2017 16:46

Another here that can't get past the Oedipus connection. How about Lucasta instead?

Don’t put your finger in the pasta Jocasta!

crunched · 30/06/2017 17:57

Great name - and Jo or Cassie are both nice abbreviations.
I know a Jocinta which is similar if Oedipus causes you issues.

PenguinsAreAce · 30/06/2017 17:57

You beat me to it blueskyinmarch!
