Are Ivy and Violet too similar sounding?

I know it sounds mad, but they seem similar to me!

Absolutely not. Unless you are just associating the fact it's two plants? Xxx

I think it's probably the presence of the v and i together in both names so I can see where you are coming from

I don't particularly like the sound of the 2 names together

Prefer Violet & Iris if that's an option?

Looneytune253 · 23/06/2017 13:23

They don't seem similar to me at all.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/06/2017 13:25

Agree with Shagged, it's the 'V'.
They're fine together OP, don't over think it.😄

KoalaDownUnder · 23/06/2017 15:00

Nope. Not at all.

Bubblesoup · 23/06/2017 15:29

I know what you mean! Especially if you shorten violet to Vi. Is it a possible sibset? If so, I probably wouldn't, sorry.

I like the PP suggestion of Iris though.

No they are very different, Ivy is a lovely name, violent Violet not so much

Thatextrainch · 24/06/2017 08:29

No they're not but I'm the opposite to post, I don't like Ivy but I love Violet.

DarknessMoon · 24/06/2017 10:18

Well, I already have an Ivy. Ivy and Iris are a no Grin

I think they're a bit similar, yes, but because they're often considered the two main invasive weeds on lawns especially - ground ivy and violets - so I would always associate them together. I probably wouldn't make that association with just one of the names on its own, though.
