Luke, or Nicholas, or...?

Luke William

or

Nicholas William

or something brilliant I haven't thought of yet?

Middle name is definitely going to be William; his big brother is called Robert (Robbie). I like Arthur, DH vetoed. He likes Edward, I've vetoed.

I think I like Luke best. In my head the baby is called Luke. I just feel like we've missed... something. (And I'm not sure if I can stand years of 'Luke, I am your father!' from DH.) He's due in a couple of weeks and I think I'd like either a longer short-list to see what he looks like when he arrives, or to feel more definite about Luke.

(Oh and on the off-chance he's a she, we've agreed on Isobel.)

I love both! I think I slightly prefer Luke William.

NoSquirrels · 22/06/2017 23:39

I love Luke, but I'd have had the same DH issue!

Lucas?

Elliot
Samuel
Nathan
Seth

I love Luke, I would have used this only dc was a girl

Joeybee · 23/06/2017 00:49

I like both names but prefer Nicholas William.
Luke William doesn't flow as well as Lucas William would do.

Dixiestamp · 23/06/2017 01:04

I like Luca more than Luke, I think. I like Nicholas William.

birdspooping · 23/06/2017 01:20

I love Luke.

How do you feel about Nicolas probably unavoidably being shortened to Nick?

SumAndSubstance · 23/06/2017 04:43

I like both Luke and Nicholas, but slightly prefer Nicholas. I agree it would be hard to avoid Nick, but I like Nick!
Peter?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/06/2017 10:03

Nicholas.

WhenLoveAndCakeCollide · 23/06/2017 10:31

Nicholas William is a very handsome name. Also, Nicholas is a name you don't seem to hear as often these days, at least I don't think so.

ScarletSienna · 23/06/2017 14:22

I love the name Nicholas. DH says it sounds like Knickerless. I still like it-he only liked one boy's name in the whole book!

NoSquirrels · 23/06/2017 14:25

Alexander is also nice, and quite similar to Nicholas. Nick/Luke/Alex all quite similar?

MikeUniformMike · 23/06/2017 14:43

I think Luke William sounds good. I love the name Nicholas but suggest you only use it if you are OK with the name Nick.

I prefer Luke to Lucas but like both. I accidentally called a colleague Lucas instead of Luke once. No point in calling the baby Lucas if you are only ever going to call him Luke.

Luca is a No unless you are Italian.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 23/06/2017 14:47

Nicholas William is lovely.

I'm not a fan of Luke and I seem to know a lot of them, of all ages. Lucas is one of my least favourite boy names, as it rhymes with mucus.

midsomermurderess · 23/06/2017 16:21

Luke William. Luke is so underused.

CesareBorgiasUnicornMask · 23/06/2017 22:16

Feeling more and more strongly pro-Luke. I do really like Nicholas - I dont mind Nick but don't love it - but I suppose it's inevitable if we do go with Nicholas.

I love Alexander actually but it's a no due to a certain massive arse of our aquaintance called that. Luca makes me think of ice-cream!
