If I like Teddy...

But have now taken it firmly off the table because it seems everyone is using it, what else will I like?

We also quite like Torin and Thorin but don't want to use a name from Lord of the Rings.

Thanks!

Edwin ( and you can still call him ted )

BendydickCuminsnatch · 21/06/2017 17:26

I went to school with a Torrance!

I don't think it's like Teddy though. Teddy I'd put with Harry, Noah, Henry, Jacob etc.

Teachervoice · 21/06/2017 17:32

Hate Eddie and think people may be tempted to call an Edwin, Eddie.

Nearly had a grand-father in law called Torrence! He was known as Terry, which is also hate.

Like Jacob but my parents' dog is called Jake. Oh, this is hard!

Torin is lovely! (Much nicer than Teddy!)

Lemondrop99 · 21/06/2017 20:26

I was literally about to say the same thing! Torin is great! You should use it. Miles better than faddy Teddy

Elizabeff · 21/06/2017 20:28

Tate?

fannyanddick · 21/06/2017 20:53

Jacob with the nickname cobby or cubby is lovely.

fannyanddick · 21/06/2017 20:54

Miles, Austin, monty, finley, rory, herbie. Barnaby.

grufallosfriend · 21/06/2017 20:55

Fanny, is that meant to be a joke? Cobby or Cubby..Hmm

Nifflerbowtruckle · 21/06/2017 20:55

Theodore with nn Teddy?

Teachervoice · 21/06/2017 21:44

I do like Torin but what do you think of nicknames for it?

We would have gone for Theodore on the birth certificate but child would still have been known as Teddy, hence the original issue of it being super common!

I think I like Barnaby Fanny but I'm not keen on Barney - wasn't that the name of a purple dinosaur?

Another vote for Torin, gorgeous name!

Sandsnake · 21/06/2017 21:59

Torin is nice. Torben?

fannyanddick · 21/06/2017 23:34

No cobby is a genuine nn for Jacob. I think it's cute!

Would barnaby be shortened to Barney? I see them as separate names.

buttercup54321 · 21/06/2017 23:54

Tolan.
Edison
Edward
Toran
Terry
Toby
Jed
Neddy

We have a 6 week old Torin. Super cool name. A million times better than the ubiquitous Teddy & it suits a baby, a toddler, a teen & a man. Tor is a perfectly good nn too.

Taran?
