We love the name Irie for a girl but are a bit worried it's a bit too out there?! I like Riri as a cute nickname. If we went with Iris, we could still shorten it to Iri? Any opinions would be much appreciated! Grin

Are you Jamaican?
I love the name Iris, Irie as nn would be cute Smile

Irie makes me think of reggae and Bob Marley. I love Iris though, DD has it as a middle name, I would have liked to use it as her first name but we already have an Iris in the family.

How about Irene or Irena/Irina?

sassylocks · 17/06/2017 20:43

Thank you for the replies! And no I'm not Jamaican- this is why I was a bit worried about it being too out there, also because my DS has a very traditional English name. I'm thinking of Iris and Irie as a nickname, but I also love Irina! Thanks for the input Smile

Iris is lovely.

AdalindSchade · 17/06/2017 20:56

You can't call a white baby Irie Grin it's ridiculous. Sorry.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 17/06/2017 21:30

I agree.

YoungBritishPissArtist · 18/06/2017 11:33

If you're not of Jamaican heritage then no, it's cultural appropriation (see the Cohen thread! 😉)

Birdsgottaf1y · 18/06/2017 11:41

Go with Iris and give the nickname you want.

Riri is what Rihanna is called as a nn.

RuthB4 · 18/06/2017 17:04

Iris is beautiful! And you could call her Riri as a nickname.

leghoul · 18/06/2017 17:13

Iris. Then use whatever you like as a nickname.
