Emilia or Amelia

But they're different pronounciations. Which one do you prefer.

IrregularCommentary · 16/06/2017 22:16

They're different names?

Sophronia · 16/06/2017 22:20

Amelia

FreckledFrog · 16/06/2017 22:23

I prefer Emilia seems more unusual Smile

cushioncovers · 16/06/2017 22:25

They are different names aren't they?

Salmonpinkcords · 16/06/2017 22:28

Emilia although you/she will constantly have to correct people

mummytobemaybe · 16/06/2017 22:36

I always pronounced them the same? How are they supposed to be pronounced?

Amelia is more traditional and well known. Emilia seems to have risen in popularity probably because of Emilia Fox.

MaroonPencil · 16/06/2017 22:40

I would pronounce them differently. Em-eelia and Am-eelia. Both lovely, I think I prefer Amelia but it is v popular.

dotdotdotmustdash · 16/06/2017 22:58

It's like difference between saying 'Emma' or 'Amanda', there's a definite vowel sound at the beginning which makes it two different names.

IHaveACrapCat · 16/06/2017 23:02

Emilia

I really struggle to understand why anyone would name their child after a birth defect

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amelia_(birth_defect)

countycouncil · 16/06/2017 23:02

I think Emilia is the nicer of the two but they're so similar. Anything else on the list?

MaroonPencil · 16/06/2017 23:16

Well they are hardly naming their child after a birth defect. You might as well say every Charlotte is named after a potato, or every John is named after a toilet.

blahthisistoohard · 16/06/2017 23:35

@MaroonPencil 😂😂😂

I'd go with Amelia or Amelie even.

GreatFuckability · 17/06/2017 00:32

I think the pronunciation difference in every day speech would be so minimal i don't think it would make much difference.

I think i prefer the Emilia spelling personally.

Sunnyside90 · 17/06/2017 04:16

Amelia all the way. E- version seems like the spellings been written wrong.... and I don't think it sounds right 😕 ...congrats x

SuperBeagle · 17/06/2017 05:10

Emilia

My DD's name 😊

curlii103 · 17/06/2017 07:22

Too subtle a difference and too popular a name to notice. I'd go for Amelia which would be the expected spelling for me
