Adaline or Adeline?

Yes i have just watched the Film Age of Adaline & now i love this name! I prefer the spelling Adaline but maybe that is just because i have seen the film with that spelling. I believe Adeline is more common spelling. Which spelling would you go for?

Adaline looks like it'd be pronounced like the name Ada, with 'line' on the end. (Unless that's what you're after!)

Adeline, definitely, because of Virginia Woolf. Though I think you will get people who aren't sure whether it's pronounced with the last syllable rhyming with 'pine' or rhyming with 'clean'.

A friend of mine has a daughter called Emmeline and they get the same issue.

My friend used Adaline but generally calls her dd Ada.

It's a vote for Adeline from me. Seems more like a 'proper' name and I hear it as Ad Elle leen in my head.

Unless you want nn Ada and pronunciation ay dah leen....

I thought Adeline was pronounced Ad A Line / A Del Ine? Thats what im after.. (not aid a line or aid a lean etc)

Op I believe it can be pronounced either of your ppreferred pronounciations. My friend who uses Adaline with Ada as a shortening actually pronounces it as Ad-a-line.
