We find out the sex on Tuesday. These are our top names. Just wondering on your thoughts? Thanks.

Oliver used to be posh but common as now. Madison is not a name of a child it's a road in NYC.

msocean · 16/06/2017 02:28

I'm not a fan of either, to be frank.

Freyanna · 16/06/2017 02:49

How exciting! Please tell us the sex of your baby when you find out. I like Oliver, not sure about Madison.

KoalaDownUnder · 16/06/2017 03:28

Oliver is way overused and I'm not a fan anymore.

I don't like Madison. It's very 90s.

Sorry to be so negative!

Pemba · 16/06/2017 04:25

Oliver is nice. Madison is not great, did you know it was invented in 80s film 'Splash'? The mermaid character needs a human name and looks up and sees 'Madison' on a street sign (or something like that). Apparently it's really a surname meaning 'son of Maud'.

Madeleine/Madeline is lovely though, and very similar in sound.

Congratulations!

Pick the names you like best and don't worry what other people think - you're the parents.

mycatloveslego · 16/06/2017 06:27

My 8 week old boy is called Oliver. Obviously, I think it's lovely. As for being common- there is only 1 Oliver in the whole of my older son's school, but there are 7 James' just in the reception year!
Go for what you like, we weren't sure until after he was born, then it just seemed like it fitted him perfectly.

AndieNZ · 16/06/2017 06:37

We have an Oliver who is 14. I don't think it's common as I haven't come across many others.

We loved the fact its traditional, and was a cute name when he was a baby (Olly) is a nice name now, as a teen, and will be equally as nice as an adult. He prefers Olly but is Oliver when he is in trouble 😉

Hotpinkangel19 · 16/06/2017 07:23

My Oliver is the only one in his year, and he's 6! I work at a pre school and we have no Oliver's there out of 45 children.

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/06/2017 07:28

I like Oliver but we do know rather alot. It is by far the most popular name for baby boys where we live (followed by Arthur). I also don't really like Ollie.

Not a fan of Madison either I'm afraid though the only one I've ever met was male (would be 12/13 now).

ScarletSienna · 16/06/2017 07:31

Oliver is lovely. I only know one under 10.

I don't like the name Madison.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 16/06/2017 07:52

Oliver is a good, strong name.
Madison wouldn't be a name I'd ever choose.

grufallosfriend · 16/06/2017 08:33

I dislike both.

Oliver is extremely common and I don't like Olly

Madison is a US city and sounds masculine imo

But if you love them, feel free to ignore my comments Smile

OvariesForgotHerPassword · 16/06/2017 10:23

I like Oliver :)

Madison gets a lot of hate but I've had it for 22 years and never had anything but positive comments in real life. It used to be used for predominantly men but now it's fat more common as a girls name in the US and the UK.

greendale17 · 16/06/2017 10:24

Oliver is okay- quite common now. Be prepared for it be shortened to Ollie

I really don't like the name Madison at all

weaselscanfly · 16/06/2017 11:29

Oliver/Ollie is very popular - I know 6 under 10s. It's nice though. Not keen on Madison at all. Sorry. Madeline though, is lovely.

Hersetta427 · 16/06/2017 15:01

I don't like Madison I am afraid. Sounds a bit common (and I don't mean popular). I like Oliver but don't love it.

Marcipex · 16/06/2017 15:37

I like Oliver but it's very popular where I live, 2 or 3 in every class.
Maybe it's not being used as much for babies though.

I think Madison is lovely, but Madeleine is lovelier.

Reow · 16/06/2017 15:40

Both massively overused.

Misspilly88 · 16/06/2017 15:43

Oliver is nice but there's 8 of them in my friends child's nursery class! Madison I don't like much, prefer madeleine.

Sophronia · 16/06/2017 21:42

Oliver is ok, but a bit boring as it's so popular. Madison is a bit tacky, sorry.

Hulababy · 16/06/2017 21:48

I love the name Oliver with Oli as Ann.

I don't like the name Madison, sorry.
