We are really struggling. He's now 4 days old.

  • Oliver (my favourite but I don't like Ollie and it's very popular!)
  • Lewis (for some reason people think it's 'chavvy' (hate that word!))
  • Hayden (same as above! Sad)
  • Robin (I know it's stupid, but it's really unusual in my area and I don't know if I'm brave enough!)
  • Theodore (we really like the NN Teddy but will it just be too difficult in life for him to be Teddy and Theodore on BC? Also, DH says it as 3 syllables! Is it 2 or 3!?)

Any comments would be lovely.

@chinlop no... I'm just trying to pick a name, like millions of other posters!

Oh sorry, think I must be getting confused with my own (Kent) accent, as I would pronounce fear with two (soft) syllables- feeya

Mrsknackered · 15/06/2017 18:35

I absolutely love Robin. Please can we have another baby Robin in the world.
I went to school with 2 boy Robin's, both completely different and rocked the name equally.
The quieter Robin's full name was Robin Crow!

Lewis and Oliver are a bit boring IMO.
Haydn is quite nice.

ScarletSienna · 15/06/2017 18:42

I love Theodore (and Theo and Ted but really dislike Teddy)

The more I read Robin on this thread, the more I like it!

Oliver-I've taught quite a few but only once had two in a class. Only one has ever been Ollie. Really like it.

Oliack1417 · 15/06/2017 18:49

I've just had an Oliver so obv that's my favourite. There are a lot of Teddy's at my baby classes, it's definitely very popular at the moment.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/06/2017 20:25

Robin is lovely !
How about Louis, instead of Lewis ?

oldbirdy · 15/06/2017 20:29

Theodore hugely popular in my mc area, I know at least 4 all aged 5 and under. If you want an unusual but timeless name it had to be Robin. Oliver is timeless too but, as you say, much more popular. Hayden has a different feel from you other names, Lewis is ok but not as nice as Robin.

Vintagegoth · 15/06/2017 20:35

There will probably already be 2 Olivers and 2 Teddys in his class at school. I'd pick Robin.

springlike · 15/06/2017 20:39

Oliver - the best name ever! IMO

Arriettyborrower · 15/06/2017 20:53

Oliver, biased as I have one Wink despite it being very popular my Oliver is the only one in his 150 strong year!

There are very good reasons why some names are so popular!

SumAndSubstance · 15/06/2017 22:19

I like Robin best. Theodore/Theo/Teddy is very popular at the moment. I think it's going to be one of those names that will date you to a relatively short timespan of birth! Oliver is very popular, but at least it has been for ages.

Chloris33 · 15/06/2017 22:20

Robin or Theodore (with lovely nicknames Ted, Teddy or Theo) are both great. Dislike the others.

Malfoyy · 15/06/2017 22:27

Theodore or Robin.

Oliver is the number one name and your son will spend his life as Oliver A B or C etc

Ted, Theo, Teddy, Dorey...

Rob, Robbie :-)

BewareOfDragons · 15/06/2017 22:32

Theo and Oliver are both quite popular, but still lovely names.

Not keen on Robin.

The Lewis's I know are all quite naughty.

And save for one, the Haydens I know are all girls!

Shockers · 15/06/2017 22:37

I liked Robin the most before you mentioned Disney! Grin

bridgetreilly · 15/06/2017 22:50

Robin.

If you go for Theodore, Theo is a perfectly good shortening, if he doesn't want Teddy. Or Ted.

Flumplet · 15/06/2017 23:00

I have a Theodore. He hasn't struggled with it. He's now 5 nearly 6 and goes mainly by Theo, sometimes Teds, but to me, and me only, he will always be my little Teddy James or my Teddy Pom Pom.

Elbi · 15/06/2017 23:05

I think Robin is lovely. Not as popular either.

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/06/2017 07:38

Robin :) such a handsome name

namechangeforholiday · 16/06/2017 07:53

Oliver.

I like Teddy but I don't think it works as an adult name & he may not like his full name

Chickenagain · 16/06/2017 08:03

Robin is a fab name & classless too.

In my opinion, Lewis is a surname, Hayden is a place, Oliver is okay.

grufallosfriend · 16/06/2017 08:31

Robin. Definitely.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 16/06/2017 12:18

What doe your list look like now OP ?😀

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 16/06/2017 12:18

*does

Chatelherault · 16/06/2017 13:29

Robin is gorgeous
