So my grandma and dd were and are drippy then squoosh? You know that do you.*

Sheesh. I did clarify with 'in my experience'. No need to get in a tizz.

Maggie!

Alice is nice but still pretty popular. Maggie sounds lovely. I would not think Thatcher first at all.

5moreminutes · 21/06/2017 08:36

Miri I know Maggie Tulliver is a complex character and admirably analytical and thoughtful, but she is also an anxious, self destructive, people pleaser - not somebody anyone would want their DD to have as a namesake!

Not that classic literature is a reason to avoid a name - think how many people called their DSs Jude a few years ago without worrying about the psychotic, child murdering Jude junior and utterly miserable, doomed eponymous character in arguably the grimmest work of classic British literature...

FromthePinkGlitterySide · 30/01/2018 14:49

My dd's name is Emmy and everyone loves it. I do really like Maggie too though!

FellOutOfBed2wice · 30/01/2018 14:51

We really liked Margaret nn Peggy for our second daughter. Unfortunately as a couple of red through and through Corbynites with socialist family who stood on miners picket lines we just couldn’t bring ourselves to do it.

PeasAndHarmony · 30/01/2018 18:09

This is a thread from June 2017, Maggie has probably been born by now!

MammieBear · 30/01/2018 18:29

If you like Maggie how about Peggy? Personally I think Maggie is the best on your list. you could have Margaret on the BC and that way it gives you a whole host of potential names to use. Good luck

NapQueen · 30/01/2018 18:30

How about Meg?

EfficiencyDeficiency · 30/01/2018 18:30

I quite like Stevie as a unisex name.

I have a Lucy too op :)

Do not worry what others think of whatever name you choose.

Meemzinha · 30/01/2018 18:47

@hayser33

Go for Maggie! Forget about Thatcher.. Someone else deserves the name more haha Grin

ALSO Maggie makes me only think of the actress Maggie Smith and she is legendary!!!

Mclaren37 · 31/01/2018 05:47

Love Maggie! Go with your gut.

MistressDeeCee · 31/01/2018 05:56

Maggie just makes me think of Maggie May. Probably as I've always liked the 2 names together

misshannah · 31/01/2018 06:07

Maggie is my naughty dogs name. Would also make me think of thatcher.

Alice is lovely like the book.

LML83 · 31/01/2018 06:15

I know a Maggie who is 3, we never thought about thatcher (and we are in am area who particularly disliked her). It's amazing how quickly your associations can change.

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 31/01/2018 06:21

I know a Maggie it's a lovely name. Most people think of Maggie Simpson these days OP! Not Thatcher!

AnotherShirtRuined · 31/01/2018 06:23

Not too keen on Leni. The rest are lovely. Just go with your gut feeling.

Kannet · 31/01/2018 07:08

We have a little Maggie in our family. Unfortunately it is always shortened to mags which is not very nice.

RosieCotton · 01/02/2018 14:24

My first name is Leoni. I spent all of high school and college being called Leni. I hated every second of it. I refused to answer to it. It's not a unisex name, it's a boys name. But that's just my opinion on my horrible name. Lol.

Maggie is lovely :)

stellarfox · 01/02/2018 20:56

I love Maggie, but I do think it should be short for something E.g Margot, Margaret

NewYearNiki · 01/02/2018 20:58

I dont like Maggie sorry.

Its a nn and Maggie Dawn just doesn't go together.

I like Alice the best

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 02/02/2018 02:35

Margot is gorgeous.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 02/02/2018 03:07

ZOMBIE THREAD

flowersWB · 02/02/2018 03:09

Maggie is great as long as you're in the south. It still has bad connotations in the North. I'm not allowed to even call a dog Maggie.

badg3r · 02/02/2018 19:38

I know a Maggie and she loves her name. Also like the Maggie Dawn combination since the initials are MD which makes me thing of medical doctor or managing director. I get that Dawn is a family name but I'm not so keen on it in itself. I prefer it in other languages, eg Aurora or Alba.
