I'd ruled it out thinking it would definitely be top ten but just seen it was mid-fifties for boys last year! Do you know many?

I know two 16 year old Eddie (Edwards) I also have an adult friend Eddie who is an Edson if you wanted a not so popular Ed- name.

I know about 5 under the age of 6.

And Edward was the 26th most popular boy's name in 2015 in England and Wales according to the official ONS statistics - a rise of 5 places since 2014 - so I'd be surprised if it was really in the mid-50's last year. Official ONS stats for 2016 aren't available yet.

Really want to call my baby boy Edward/Ted (loves for ages) but annoyed that it will get lumped in with the Teddy fad! What do you think you will do OP?

I have a nearly 13yr old Edward (sometimes Ed or Eddy) - I still adore the name and like the fact that he has choices of nn. I would rate it similarly to Henry or Charlie in terms of popularity. By no means unusual but not hugely common either.

250 kids at dds school not 1 Edward

Which is reassuring... but if the flavour of mumsnet is to be believed, in 5 years time about 1/3 of the year group will be called Edward, Ted, or Teddy! Question is, do we believe mumsnet?
