I like it for a boy.

KoalaDownUnder · 11/06/2017 21:07

Remy = boy

Romy = girl

Yika · 11/06/2017 21:21

As above: Remy = boy; Romy = girl. Both are nice names.

"Be careful because Remy is slang for remy martin, an alcoholic drink"

Errr, it's not "slang".

Rémy Martin is a well-known brand of cognac.

The company was founded by a man called ... Rémy Martin.

grufallosfriend · 11/06/2017 22:22

Rémy is a great boys name!

DaisyFranceLynch · 11/06/2017 22:26

I didn't know it was a name - I only knew it from the brandy. I like it but think it might work best with a French surname.

BagelGoesWalking · 11/06/2017 22:34

"Rémy is a French masculine name developed from an obscure Latin personal name (Remigius) meaning“oarsman”, derived from the Latin “remigis” meaning “oar”."

buttercup54321 · 11/06/2017 23:51

sounds like indigestion remedy!

Enidblyton1 · 11/06/2017 23:58

It's a great boys name if you pronounce it with a French accent. Like many French names, it is completely butchered in an English accent.
(I say this as someone with a French name who has always lived in the UK - people struggle to pronounce my name nicely)

blahthisistoohard · 12/06/2017 00:06

Boy...but you'd think he had stomach ache when introduced

29Palms · 12/06/2017 01:21

Rémy or Remigius was a French saint. He was Bishop of Reims.

SuperBeagle · 12/06/2017 06:20

I like Remy. Masculine.

Romy is feminine.

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/06/2017 10:17

Unisex. Maybe Remy for a boy and Remi for a girl?

I don't like it but prefer it on a boy

yikesanotherbooboo · 12/06/2017 10:20

Quite like it; definitely male in my mind

ASDismynormality · 12/06/2017 10:24

I know two boys called Remy both under 5. I think if it as a boys name but am not keen. I really like Romy for a girl.

29Palms · 12/06/2017 11:03

It's not "unisex". It's a man's name.

MikeUniformMike · 12/06/2017 13:04

Remy is a boy. French.
Rem - no.

isittheholidaysyet · 12/06/2017 13:05

I knew one...a French boy.
I liked it in that context. I don't know if it would work for a non-french context.

BaffledMummy · 12/06/2017 14:56

I know a 18 month girl called Remy - she is adorable and suits it. When we were told her name the first time I just thought of Remy Denton from House of Cards so had assumed it was a boys name. Works fine for both IMO.

Hairq · 12/06/2017 15:56

I remember it being used as slang for 'stupid' (short for remedial).

UsernameInvalid66 · 12/06/2017 21:50

Boy, and I'd assume a French connection.
