Back to the drawing board with boys names!

I love a lot of boys names but am really struggling to find one that fits nicely with our other two dc's names, which are slightly different styles (thanks to DH and I naming one eachHmm). Our children are Archer and Margot.
I love Hamish, but not sure it goes well with Archer (could fit with nn Archie, but that's really only his baby name).
I really like Ralph and Rafe, both pronounced as spelled. I think Ralph goes better with Margot and Rafe better with Archer as it has a more modern edge?
Also like Gabe, not 100% sure on Gabriel for some reason, but I think it fits with both names?
Then there's Jack or George as a safe bets - they both kind of 'fit' but I'm less excited about them.
Any thoughts or preferences on these 6 names would be much appreciated. Which one would you choose? (...Any others?)

I don't really see why names have to fit - if you like them, use them!

leannejade · 09/06/2017 06:43

^agreed. I don't think it's anything my parents considered when naming my siblings and I. I mean, I'm a twin and my sister is called Stacy - hardly matching lol

I do really like Gabe.

BikeRunSki · 09/06/2017 06:46

I think Hamish goes rather well with Archer and Margot.

I also agree that the need for sibling to "go", exists only in MN land. The Baby Names board would hate the combo of my siblings names, but it seems like the most natural grouping in the world.

Thanks! Please humour me on the names 'fitting together' thingGrin. I know it shouldn't matter, but it really bothers me. Pedantically so! (I'd prefer for them all to be of a similar style, not so much matching.)

Gabe and Hamish are lovely.

SoupDragon · 09/06/2017 07:07

I think Jack George and Ralph are the ones that don't "go" so well with your current names (which I actually think do go together as they have that "posh" kind of feel to them IYKWIM!)

I do think names have to fit together to a certain extent. Siblings called Ocean and Jane would seem a bit odd. Nothing wrong with them not going but it kind of makes sense for them to sound right together.

Lemondrop99 · 09/06/2017 08:34

I think Hamish fits nicely

NappingRabbit · 09/06/2017 08:38

I actually think Hamish goes well with your other names - they're all well heard of but not overused.

Jack and George go well with Archie as they're very popular at the moment.

I'm not keen on Rafe/Ralph and think Gabe on its own is too nicknamey.

grufallosfriend · 09/06/2017 10:55

Hamish and Ralph are lovely and interesting names! I think they go well with Margot and Archer - also, what does 'go with' actually mean?

I find Jack and George quite dull and overused.

Sophronia · 09/06/2017 11:07

I think Hamish goes best

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/06/2017 11:09

Archer, Margot and Hamish.
Archer, Margot and Ralph.
I'll go with Ralph, but do like Hamish.
Don't like Gabe/Gabriel.
Jack and George are both great, but Ralph/Hamish go better with your other lovely name choices.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 09/06/2017 11:10

I think they all 'go' apart from Jack and George. My favourite is probably Hamish.

swimmerforlife · 09/06/2017 11:32

I love Hamish op, it's my son's middle name. And I think it goes really nicely with your other two names.

TheOtherOnes · 09/06/2017 11:37

I think Ralph 'fits' best.

They're all nice names though.
