If I like Clara for a girl, what would I like for a boy?

Apparently DC2 is a boy and we're completely stuck for ideas. Can anyone help? I was convinced we were having another girl until the scan. So much for intuition.

Curtis?

My intuition failed on all my gender guesses too for three pregnancies...

I LOVE the name Clara, and I like the boy's names: Jesse, Daniel, Jospeh, Gilbert (not sure I'd be brave enough, but am a big Anne of Green Gables fan)

Thanks so much for all the replies. There are some names I really like on there but they belong to close relatives.

There's also my absolute favourite boy's name, which DP won't even consider.

Instead of hoping for a magic perfect name to drop from the sky, I think we need to examine more closely our reasons for ruling out names...

Which is your absolutely favourite name? I loved Izaak but DH refused, saying he'd be ridiculed. Then loads of Isaacs and Izaaks turned up at school and no one thought it was weird. People are far more accepting of variations in names these days. Not everyone has to be called William or Oliver (though those are good names too!)

Congratulation OP Smile

How about waiting until he arrives so you can see what name he "looks like"?
We made a shortlist of names at least one of us liked and the other didn't actively dislike, and one of those suited him to a T.
I heard of someone who was expecting a girl and decided to call her Stephanie, then when the baby was born her mother looked at her and said "Oh dear, you're not a Stephanie at all, are you? You're a Paula!"

Clara and Fritz (Frederick) are the brother in sister in the Nutcracker. Frederick?

Topsyloulou · 03/06/2017 13:41

I know a baby Clara & her big brother is Thomas if that's any help.
