What does everyone think to this name for a girl: Keziah Rayne
(Keziah pronounced: Kez-EYE-ah)
Or any other ideas for a middle name? I dont think it should be very long, like one syllable.

Wolfiefan · 30/05/2017 19:25

Love it.
Don't like Rayne very much but yes it needs to be short.
Like Dawn with it I think.

Wolfiefan · 30/05/2017 19:26

Neev

Not how they really should be pronounce. (Irish and Welsh?!) But how English will pronounce them.

MikeUniformMike · 30/05/2017 19:28

Kez-ya ?

Jooni · 30/05/2017 19:41

I like Keziah (I say "KEZ-ee-ah" though) but really don't like Rayne, especially with that strange spelling - sorry!

How about Ray/Rae, Wren or Raven instead?

howthelightgetsin · 30/05/2017 19:54

I like it, but not Rayne.

Short middles -

Belle
Lucy
Anne
Mary

CowParsleyNettle · 30/05/2017 19:58

I loved The Diddakoi, one of my favourite childhood books so it conjures up memories of home knitted cardigans and camp fires.

Kizzy for short of course.

Veterinari · 30/05/2017 20:00

Kez-ee-ah (pronounced more like Kezzi-ah) here too. Never heard the kez-eye-ah pronounciation

PlymouthMaid1 · 30/05/2017 20:15

Lovely name

YesMilk · 30/05/2017 20:26

I know a Keziah (kez-ee-a) and Kezia pronounced (kez-eye-a)

I like the 'ee' pronounciation, with nickname 'Kezee'.

But I think it's one of those names which people will always say incorrectly.

29Palms · 30/05/2017 20:41

As it's an ancient name that has been rare for a long time, I read it similar to the old-fashioned pronunciations of Maria and Sophia, so

Ke-ZYE-ah
Ma-RYE-ah
So-FYE-ah

29Palms · 30/05/2017 20:45

And being a Biblical name, it seems natural to follow the pronunciation of other -iah names, like Josiah, Hezekiah, Zephaniah etc.

Mummymooretobe · 30/05/2017 20:54

29Palms yes I am pronouncing it the way it is in the Bible. So as you said. Kez-AYE-ah :)

SuperBeagle · 30/05/2017 20:59

I like Keziah, and it's pronounced Kez-EYE-ah, at least within the Jewish community.

Not a fan of Rayne though.

Veterinari · 30/05/2017 21:04

Thanks 29 that makes sense

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/05/2017 21:13

I'm sure it's supposed to be kez-EYE-ah but the only person I know with this name is Keziah Dugdale and she's a kezzy-ah.

All that aside, it sounds like the name a devout Mormon would give their daughter. Too much for me.

TheLegendOfBeans · 30/05/2017 21:18

I know a Kezia.
Incidentally she's the leader of Scottish Labour now but since we were at Uni together I've always coveted her name.

Pron: Kez-EE-yah

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/05/2017 21:32

Beans did you see that thing on Sky News yesterday where the presenter had a bit of a Freudian slip and introduced her as the leader of Scottish labia?

😱

😂

TheLegendOfBeans · 30/05/2017 21:33

No way! 😂

runs to internet

Epipgab · 30/05/2017 22:02

I like it.

TyrionLannistersShadow · 30/05/2017 22:13
