I honestly don't think I can use any. I don't like any. I'm always a bit 'meh' when I hear any suggested.

Grace is my absolute only 'maybe', but I'm still not keen Sad DH said he will use Gray as a NN and I'm so against that.

Maisy is a potential 'maybe', DH would use May as a NN and I'm more accepting of that.

Gracie?

BakerBear · 25/05/2017 13:59

Why is your dh so insistent on using a nickname? Why can he not use her actual name?

You have had 9 months to think of names so its not really acceptable for a 5 week old to still be nameless

Designated · 25/05/2017 14:00

@BakerBear I don't know, I'm not my husband.

Also, how is that helpful. It clearly is acceptable as you don't have to register until 6 weeks Hmm

Gracie is nice.

Why does she need a name and a nickname? If you're going to call her May, which is a lovely name in its own right, why not just call her May? Especially as Masie is actually short for Margaret.

RicottaPancakes · 25/05/2017 14:02

What kind of name do you like?

MyNameIsNotYourName · 25/05/2017 14:02

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 25/05/2017 14:47

What's this obsession with nicknames. Just give her a lovely short name, there's loads of them.

Babyonboard101 · 25/05/2017 14:53

I've always loved Jak or Toni for a girl (feminine spellings) but that's just me....

Berrybakecake1 · 25/05/2017 14:59

Gracie may

Just a suggestion if you don't like girls names why not try a boys name or surname as these tend to be the trend these days.
I've just been introduced to a 10 day baby girl called Perry. I'm not saying I like it but it actually suited her.

LucyFuckingPevensie · 25/05/2017 14:59

Faye ? He can't shorten that Grin
Most nn come naturally after a while anyway.

Trampire · 25/05/2017 15:01

I have a Lucy. Many find that boring but I like it and so does dd (now 12)

If my ds had been a girl he would have been called Rose.

Any use? It's common as a middle name but I hardly ever hear it as a first name.

I also like -

Penelope (Penny/Pen)
Clementine
Manon
Annie

IamtheDevilsAvocado · 25/05/2017 15:02

Eva/ava /eve/evie are lovely names!

Trampire · 25/05/2017 15:03

True about nn coming about naturally.

My lucy was called - Luce, Looby Lou, then Loovs and now Loobster 😂

Trampire · 25/05/2017 15:03

Sorry Loobs not Loovs. That would be very odd Grin

leghoul · 25/05/2017 15:07

Agreed.

leghoul · 25/05/2017 15:09

OP, it took me weeks and weeks to name DC1 and then I changed it Shock I felt bullied into choosing one I didn't really like and didn't really suit them - once I knew the right name, and knew it suited them, I had no doubts.

Abetes · 25/05/2017 15:10

I agree - nicknames come naturally and kids often have different nicknames from family, school friends, out of school friends etc.

leghoul · 25/05/2017 15:10

Some people decide in pregnancy, some people decide on the day, some people find it really hard - it's a huge responsibility and decision to make. Don't feel bad OP. But your DD does need a name and please do not let nicknames influence your decision.
