Sister for Tristan

Hello

We're expecting a daughter and already have a boy called Tristan.

We still love the name we picked if Tristan had been a girl but I don't think it goes well with his name... My husband doesn't think it's a problem but I'm worried the kids will be picked on. So I need some external opinions! The girl's name is Susanna. I'm worried that their names together will sound too much like Trinny and Susannah! Is that silly or justified? For what it's worth we'd mostly call our daughter Susie if we picked that name but would introduce her as Susanna. Looking forward to your opinions.

Definitely go with Susanna (Susie), they sound great together.
Trinity and Susannah who ? 😂😂😂

Hobbitch · 21/05/2017 11:48

Thanks :). That's what my husband says, nobody remembers them!

Susannah is a lovely name.

It must be ten years since Trinny and Susannah were on the telly. Who do you think might "pick on" your children in a few years time? Kids will always find something to pick on if they want to, and it's not going to be ageing TV presenters that they've never heard of.

Hobbitch · 21/05/2017 14:02

29palms I hope you're right, it's just that the association came to my mind as soon as I put the 2 names together (probably showing my age here) and I'm worried everyone will be the same!

I only have the vaguest idea who they are since I never watched any of their programmes. They aren't exactly household names.

CaipirinhasAllRound · 21/05/2017 14:39

I love Susannah
If you ever have to introduce them together or when you're writing birthday cards etc, you could write Susannah and Tristan. Although I don't think it's an issue at all

LorLorr2 · 21/05/2017 14:44

Haha, although I'm aware of Trinny & susannah, I didn't think of that until you said it! So no it won't come to people's minds I don't think. Certainly not their classmates which is probably the important opinion while growing up Grin

Hobbitch · 21/05/2017 15:47

Thanks everyone, that's reassuring as we love the name and find it difficult to agree on any other!

Susannah is lovely.
Hannah
Julia
Alexandra
Cassandra

LorLorr2 · 21/05/2017 20:47

Savannah is similar if you're open to other suggestions Smile but Susannah is nice because it's unique these days.

RebelRogue · 21/05/2017 21:15

Isolde Grin

PGTip · 21/05/2017 23:24

I know a Tristan & Ella

Sophronia · 22/05/2017 00:25

Susanna (Susie) is beautiful and fine with Tristan

Buntysoven · 22/05/2017 00:32

Beautiful name x

Ipushedmygrannyaffabus · 22/05/2017 00:34

Susanna is a gorgeous name. Yes, I too hear "trinny & Susannah" but their peers certainly won't!

I was going to suggest that Rosa would go well with Tristan.

RagingCunt · 22/05/2017 00:40

Was going to say Isolde but someone beat me to it... Grin

OrlandaFuriosa · 22/05/2017 00:48

Susanna is lovely and I prefer your spelling.

Otherwise
Louisa
Aurelia
Aphra

On the Arthurian theme but assuming you don't want Isolde/Iseult,

Elaine
Guinevere/Jennifer
Morgane/Morgana/Morgan
Enid
Igraine ( perhaps not..)
Laudine
Luned/Lunette
Nimue

OrlandaFuriosa · 22/05/2017 00:50

I like Ghislaine too, and Genevieve. Emmeline goes quite well.

Sashasays · 22/05/2017 00:52

I like Isabella, I think it would go quite well.

Hobbitch · 22/05/2017 07:11

Thanks for the suggestions! I did think of Isolde (only for a second)! Ipushed I love Rose! Wouldn't pick Rosa as I've recently met one and really don't like her! We might use Rose as a middle name though some books say Susanna means Rose (others say it means Lily)...

You've reassured me, not just about the association but also by saying you love the name. I'm pretty picky and my husband is even worse so it's good not to have a silly reason to veto a name we both love!

Susanna generally means Lily or the little autumn crocuses that pop up after the rains. I suppose that rose becomes a generic for a beautiful flower.

LaLegue · 22/05/2017 10:15

I came to say Isolde as well. It's got to be. Grin

Hobbitch · 22/05/2017 12:26

Orlanda maybe we'll move away from the flower theme for the middle name ;).

OrlandaFuriosa · 22/05/2017 16:39

Well, only pedants and people with parents who were versed in Semitic languages ( Arabic, Hebrew, Persian etc) know that ... I think Susanna Rose is beautiful.

And think of that Sargent painting; Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose...no-one complains about that...
