DH ultimately vetoed Viola and I unfortunately just don't love Louisa (I know, it's really pretty...). So both of us came up with a new list. I'd love to hear your opinions (you have been so helpful already...). Thank you very much :)

List 1:
Seraphina
Valentina
Anita

List 2:

Isidra
Angelica
Catarina
Gloria

❤️ Valentina and Caterina.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 18/05/2017 19:18

Seraphina is also very pretty !

CricketRuntAndRashers · 18/05/2017 19:37

Sugar

Seems like you prefer list 1.
Catarina. Do you think that's maybe too confusing in the UK?

Thank you for taking the time to comment :)

I like Seraphina, Valentina & Catarina. If I had to choose one list I'd go for Seraphina & Valentina from list 1.

I do like Angelica but it reminds me of the brat from Rugrats too much.

diodati · 18/05/2017 21:27

Cricket, you have wonderful taste!

diodati · 18/05/2017 21:29

My personal favourite is Isidra. Anita is my least favourite, but I don't dislike it.

stephmia · 18/05/2017 21:30

Valentina or Catarina ♥️

buttercup54321 · 18/05/2017 21:35

Gloria Violet

CricketRuntAndRashers · 18/05/2017 21:52

diodati

Aww thanks :)

Seems like Valentina and Catarina are the most popular. And Seraphina is also pretty popular.

Gloria and Isidra got one positive mention each and Anita is the only name with a somewhat negative "review".

Thank you very much for commenting.

I like Seraphina and Valentina, but Valentina will be shortened in the UK and none of the nicknames are very nice (Val? Tina?)

I like Catarina too, but would spell it Caterina. I think Katerina is the most familiar spelling in the UK though.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 18/05/2017 22:37

Super

Oh gosh, you're right. I really don't like the nn's for Valentina...

Catarina and Katerina sounds really different to me.
Maybe Katarina?

OP posts:
flibberdy · 18/05/2017 22:39

I love Valentina and I would force the nn Vee or Tina (imo cute for a nn)

Gloria is my least fave.

Viola is lovely, can't believe it's been vetoed. What about Violetta/Violeta?

Joeybee · 19/05/2017 00:29

OMG List #1 - LOVE!!!

CricketRuntAndRashers · 19/05/2017 07:31

Tina would work, I guess. But Murphy's law...

Yes, Viola was vetoed. :=/

List one... Ok Grin thanks :)

DD's name starts with a C. Would you still use Catarina?

OP posts:
Sophronia · 19/05/2017 07:34

I love Gloria and Isidora

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 19/05/2017 08:39

Hi Cricket 😄
I think Catarina would be just fine, you do choose some lovely names.
I know of only one Valentina, her nick name is Leni, you don't have to use Val or Tina !

Argeles · 19/05/2017 08:58

Seraphina and Isidra are absolutely beautiful.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 19/05/2017 09:10

Do you mean Isadora? That would be beautiful.
I rather like Seraphina, and Valentina is very pretty and unusual here. I once had a pair of very elderly Russian-German sisters as neighbours, called Valentina and Larissa - both lovely names. Not keen on the others on List 2, though I like Katharina spelt like that.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 19/05/2017 09:33

Thanks :)! I also really like Isidra ;)
I have the name Isidro on my family tree (which, according to the internet, is from Isidore/Isidoro).

List one is DH's. He's now smug and thinks I should pick one if his suggestions (or better yet, Louisa) Grin

Katharina... Hm. Idk. English people will give that a TH, right? Which kind of takes away of the clean "swiftness" (if that makes sense).

Sugar

Leni is cute. Thanks :)!!

If spelled Katharina, how many syllable does it have according to most people in the UK?

So, Ka-ta-REE-nuh, Ka-ta-re-nuh or KA-TREE-nuh?

OP posts:
auntym · 19/05/2017 12:57

I have never seen Katharina but would assume KaTH-a-ree-nah. For me Ka-TREE-nuh would be spelled Catriona. This is a popular name is Scotland and I know a few.

From your lists I think Isidra is lovely and I like the family tree connection too.

auntym · 19/05/2017 12:58

PS Isidra possible nickname Izzy, which I love!

CricketRuntAndRashers · 19/05/2017 13:42

aunt

I also like Izzy :)

Right... I'd say Ka-ta-REE-nuh. Exactly like Catarina. But Catarina looks prettier imo and there wouldn't be a TH issue... Confused

I scratched off Valentina. I think the risk of "Val" is too high....

GLORIA is awesome

Isadora is nice too

harderandharder2breathe · 19/05/2017 14:03
