For a boy? The one I know is female.

I know an Asher (lovely boy), but never met an Ashton. I'm afraid it makes me think of Ashton Kutcher and by association The Butterfly Effect and kids blowing up babies

Wellmeetontheledge · 16/05/2017 20:18

I taught a class recently with three in so it's quite common, but if that's not an issue it's a nice name with good shortening potential:)

Pinkflamingo276 · 16/05/2017 20:43

I've just thought, if it gets shortened to Ash, he'll be Ash Hughes... back to the drawing board! Lol.

Google Chris Ashton Saracens & then decide.

GOASTT · 16/05/2017 20:49

What's wrong with Ash Hughes...?

Popskipiekin · 16/05/2017 20:53

Bit like "issues" maybe or "atishoo"?
Ashton is nice, and what about Ashley? (Or even Oakley? Grin). I know someone called Ashley Hulme - he gets called Ash but very rarely would friends calling him Ash actually also use his surname. We didn't call DS2 Gabriel because our surname starts with a B (e.g. Brown) and I worried that Gabe Brown sounded like Gay Brown... wish we'd used it in retrospect - nobody using the abbreviation is going to say the surname. If you like it, go for it.

I've known three little boys called Ashton now and they were all lovely.

Epipgab · 28/06/2017 16:09

I like it but agree it is a little sneezy.

Clalpolly · 28/06/2017 16:17

I dislike the town but it's a nice name as long as you are not celebrating the place of conception.

sonlypuppyfat · 28/06/2017 16:20

Well I like it

Decaffstilltastesweird · 28/06/2017 19:22

YY Ash Hughes - Atishoo! At least you noticed now rather than later op.

I know a woman with a son called Ashton. I'm sure the child is perfectly lovely, but she is horrible, so it's put me right off the name.

shelleybee · 28/06/2017 21:34

I went to school with an Ashtdon (spelled like that Confused) He'd be 29 now. Put me off the name for life.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/06/2017 22:33

Ashley Hughes sounds better.
Sorry, Ash Hughes, Atishoo ☹️
