How do the Esme's you know pronounce their name? X

Esme.

Gooseygoosey12345 · 16/05/2017 20:15

Esme would have been our name for the baby if he'd have been a girl. I think we've decided on a boys name but who knows what pregnancy hormones will do with that decision. It's hard isn't it

rattieofcarcassone · 17/05/2017 18:14

Both may and me pronunciations around here. Lots of sarcy comments from the parents of each slot how theirs is the correct pronunciation too 😆

SuperFlyHigh · 17/05/2017 18:15

Esme is really nice and not heard that much I think (maybe it is?).

buttercup54321 · 17/05/2017 18:44

Grace Esme is very pretty xx

twinjocks · 17/05/2017 18:48

Grace - by a mile

AmserGwin · 17/05/2017 18:49

I absolutely love Esme! Not keen on Grace

Emma930 · 17/05/2017 19:36

I think prehaps Grace then if the pronunciation of Esme would be a problem xx

Grace seems more classic. Esme has the pronunciation issue and is definitely having a moment I think.

DramaAlpaca · 17/05/2017 22:22

Esme, pronounced Es-me, not Es-may.

I don't like Grace much.

KERALA1 · 17/05/2017 22:30

Grace very popular. A bold choice though I always think not everyone is graceful (two of the ones we know are rather the opposite)

Emma930 · 18/05/2017 08:44

That is something I'm worried about if she's not Graceful.
I am so undecided, love both the names but I guess the pronunciation issues with Esme may annoy her xx

I know exactly what you mean op! I had to discount Willow for my DD for the same reason. Turns out she's extremely willowy! Typical Smile.

I would honestly just go with the name you like the sound of best. You could talk yourself into and out of anything if you overthink. Or you could just wait till she arrives and decide then?

ColourfulOrangex · 18/05/2017 09:03

I know more Esme than I do Grace but I prefer the name Esme...not very helpful

fabbradoodle · 18/05/2017 10:43

Both lovely names, I have a 12 year old Esme, we are in the South West and it's always been pronounced Es-me, by ourselves and people who read her name aloud without hearing the pronunciation first. Personally, not particularly keen on Es-may pronunciation, but each to their own.
I do know of four other Esmes locally, all of them over 6 and all pronounced the same way. She loves her name by the way
Smile

Esme over Grace every time. Aside from first names, Grace must count for every third girls middle name.

I know one Esme aged 4 and five Graces (3 under 2, 1 is 10 and the other in her 80s)

user1495106016 · 18/05/2017 12:18

Esme.
Grace too common

TheExuberant1 · 18/05/2017 12:23

I like them both, I prefer Gracie over Grace and would go with this over Esme.

PuppyMonkey · 18/05/2017 13:03

I have an Esme (Ezmee) and we have only ever come across one of two in her entire life (she's now ten). She's the only one in her school.

We do get people trying to call her Ez-may, but we correct them and then they learn, it's not a massive issue.

PuppyMonkey · 18/05/2017 13:03
  • one or two.
