I'm keen, so is DP. Just want some views on here to gauge people's thoughts on the name as we're not telling people in RL until DD arrives. Thank you.

I like it, however where I live there are dozens of them but the majority of the Georgias I know are in their teens / early 20s.

harderandharder2breathe · 12/05/2017 13:18

I love it and love the nn George too

All the Georgia's I've known have been lovely people as well (2 adult, 2 late teens, 1 9 year old)

Ohyesiam · 12/05/2017 13:31

I life it very much. Classic, feminine, you could go far with a name like that!

Sophronia · 12/05/2017 13:46

Not keen, it's a bit 90s/00s. I prefer Georgina.

Is it really so common in Greek? Second most used language - www.namewizard.net/f/georgia

Rockaby · 12/05/2017 14:04

No, I don't like it personally, but there's nothing wrong with it at all. It just isn't the nicest sound to my ears. It is totally inoffensive though. A nice, sensible name.

I love Georgiana with nn Georgie.

Mrsknackered · 12/05/2017 14:37

No.
Love Georgina. Dislike all of the other Georg- variants. Georgie/Georgia to me is dull and Georgiana is OTT.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 12/05/2017 14:40

Much nicer than Georgina. I hate the name Georgina, for no reason at all.

Pemba · 12/05/2017 14:42

Yes I like it - makes a nice sound. Think I like Georgina slightly more though. And with Georgina you have more choice of nicknames - could be Gina as well as Georgie, whereas with Georgia there's only Georgie.

Rockaby · 12/05/2017 14:43

I don't really like Georgina either fwiw. I only like Georgiana Confused. Everyone seems to like one of the George girl names and not the others! They're all perfectly acceptable as names though imo.

Yes.

It was popular in the 90s less so now.

Beautiful name.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 12/05/2017 15:56

I really don't like it. But I actually do like Georgiana and Georgina. :)

fatowl · 12/05/2017 16:00

I like it, but just don't spell it Jorja (yes I had one in my Rainbows) Confused

Pinkfluff27 · 12/05/2017 17:03

Lots of positives and a few negatives. I'm quite happy with that to be honest. I appreciate the feedback about Georgina and lots of people preferring it. My other daughter has a short, no frills kinda name. So I'll stick with Georgia. Also, Georgia and Georgina could both end up with the same nickname I suppose so choosing the longer version might end up pointless, if you see what I mean.

Not my style. But I'm American and immediately connect it to "the State of..." And all its twangyness. Sorry.

I'm American, too. From Georgia. And not in the least twangy. Smile

flibberdy · 12/05/2017 21:29

"Georgia on my mind"

Lovely Smile

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 13/05/2017 16:31

No, I don't like it at all. But if you love it that's what counts.
I do prefer it to "Gorgie" / "Jorgie" which is apparently becoming very popular

kittytom · 14/05/2017 21:44

Lovely name.

purplecoathanger · 14/05/2017 21:46

Love it.

Lemondrop09 · 14/05/2017 22:33

I much prefer Georgia to Georgina. I think it's rather lovely

bridgetreilly · 14/05/2017 22:43

No, I really don't. Sorry. I don't like any of the Georgi- variants, tbh, but Georgia is one of my least favourite.

KarineAimee · 14/05/2017 22:46

Great name Smile

DramaAlpaca · 15/05/2017 00:18

I love Georgina and Georgie, but I really don't like Georgia.

Glad you and your DP have found a name you both love, because that's the important thing.
