Hi I am due to have a little boy in September and am really like the name Oakley however as our surname is Turley I am worried it is a bit rhymey. The few people I have shared the name with have all said its not bad enough to change my name choice as the sound is different despite the words ending the same but I am still concerned. I am open to honest feedback or other suggestions. His fullname would be Oakley Jay Turley

Not keen on Oakley it's a bit surnamey

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 05/05/2017 22:00

I really like Oakley. Not sure about Jay, too many 'Y's'.
Oakley Jon Turley
Oakley Miles Turley
Oakley Adam Turley
Oakley Bram Turley
Oakley James Turley

2 names ending in a y is quite a mouthful but 3...Hmm if it has to be Jay then no to Oakley but otherwise prefer James and much as I dislike it Jayden might work better?

ChippersAndRunt · 05/05/2017 23:18

Oakley is fine. But I don't like Oakley Jay Turley, no.

Oakley Philip Turley?
Oakley Jonathan Turley?

Thank you the middle name I am happy to change it was the first and last name rhymeness that was bothering me but nobody else seems to think its too bad. Jayden is a nice alternative so ill think around that some more.

Yeah I don't think Oakley goes too well with your surname unfortunately. Could you use it as a middle name if you're particularly attached to it?

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 06/05/2017 11:31

Sorry I don't think Oakley and your surname flow well at all.
I much prefer your middle names to Oakley as a first name, Jay could be the middle name as it's hardly ever used or spoken out loud really.

I love Oakley. I think it sounds fine together. Lots of Holly Woodley's, Lily Hurley etc.

SwedishEdith · 06/05/2017 13:53

I don't think it works, sorry. Sounds like a character in a children's tv programme.

Oakley Turley sounds a bit soft and wish washy but if you and your DH love the name then I don't think it's a disaster. The middle name doesn't matter a jot. No one uses their middle name.

I've said Oakley Turley aloud a few times and keep saying Oakley TURKEY 🦃 That could just be me though 😂

I think Y - Y endings sound a lot better with girls names.

Rockaby · 06/05/2017 14:30

I really don't like the sound of Oakley Turley (sorry). How about just Oak Turley? I really like that!

leanne2389 · 09/05/2017 20:58

Thank you all. I am still thinking around all the suggestions as I am quite attached to Oakley now and the few people I have said it out load to have liked it so think I may keep it.

i think you are right to stick with it if it's what you like. Oakley is a good solid name and even if it's a little bit 'y' 'y' (iykwim ) its really not bad at all.

99% of the time you are addressed by either you first or second name anyway.

Lemondrop09 · 09/05/2017 22:09

I think it sounds fine OP
