Accidental Harry Potter name...

Alternative suggestions please!!

I love the name Luna, OH likes it too. Howevery I have recently fallen in love with the name Loveday; I would only be willing to use it as a middle name though, and OH is not so keen on it (yet, I've only mentioned it in passing today and it grew on me so might grow on him)

However have realised that I of course cannot name my child Luna Loveday, especially as I am a pretty big Harry Potter fan myself and it is obviously incredibly similar to Luna Lovegood (prominent character).

Any nice suggestions for either a replacement middle name or different first name? I'm struggling at the moment with girls names, we have our boys name down though! :)

What about Stella intstead of Luna?

Blueemeraldagain · 02/05/2017 15:35

I'm always surprised how many people don't remember Luna's surname from Harry Potter.

If your DD would be Luna Loveday Smith (for example) I would go for it.

CherriesInTheSnow · 02/05/2017 15:42

Omg I love Lyra!!!

Stella is nice too :3

Thanks Blue , you're probably right it's not like middle name's will come up in day to day life . Part of me is concerned that family on my side will always make a thing of it, but then I don't mind if some of them scoff as some have already scoffed at Luna by itself and at our already decided boys name (Felix). It's hard thinking of girls names this time!

I always wanted Eva Luna after the Allende novel.
Loveday is not the same as Lovegood, so have at it imho.
A friend's daughter is Lovelyn, if that might be an option.

Mrsknackered · 02/05/2017 19:06

I personally think Luna Loveday (Surname) is really lovely.

Just remember that luna was called loony by lots of people.

Freezingwinter · 02/05/2017 19:14

Yes, by the same people who bullied Harry!

Luna is a beautiful name 👍

CherriesInTheSnow · 02/05/2017 19:26

Thanks all Easter Smile

GirlcalledJames Eva is a beautiful name and OH is much more keen on it than Loveday, even though it is my middle name (opinions on whether that's a problem? [Grin] ).

I also love Lyra and was actually on our list (we are both huge fans of the His Dark Materials novels, it's kind of our "thing" :) )

Luna Eva, or Luna Eve, or Evie/Eva Luna are all going on the long short list!

Serafina Loveday

Lyra Loveday

Luna Serafina

SumAndSubstance · 03/05/2017 21:04

How about Selena? It's Greek for Moon, as opposed to Latin for it (Luna).

Nametrekking · 04/05/2017 09:48

If Eva is your middle name and you love it why don't you use it? Not weird at all and you can start a family trend!

Luna Eva is much better than Loveday imo, really sorry but I just think a child would get teased immensely with that name :(

CherriesInTheSnow · 04/05/2017 10:46

Luna Eva is a lovely name, it is probably what we will go for :)

I would be willing to use Loveday but OH isn't keen on it, and it's not like I prefer it massively over Eva and a few others. I think as long as Luna is in there somewhere it will be perfect Easter Smile

It sounds a bit temporal - I mean, like a time of day. A luna eva sounds like the Latin term for a type of evening moon. I also don't think the two 'a's at the end are smooth sounding, but Luna Eve sounds even more like a full moon party.

CherriesInTheSnow · 04/05/2017 18:28

Mmmm Ive been saying it and am not keen on the Luna Eva double A thing. Weirdly though I think Eva Luna flows beautifully, but I don't want Eva as the first name!

My DD''s name is Faye and I thought Luna and Faye sounded lovely, have taken for granted that it would be our girls name of choice and we both fell in love with the name Faye as soon as we heard it, same with out potential boys name this time around. Annoying! Although gender is not known yet so could not have to worry about a girls name at all Easter Smile

CricketFishieDHAndI · 04/05/2017 18:35

I agree, it does have a somewhat "temporal" feel...

What about other versions of "Eve"?

Luna Eveline? Luna Evelina?

I really like Luna, it's lovely.

DisorderedAllsorts · 06/05/2017 03:06

Luna Eve
Lena Loveday
