Hi, our little boy is due in 5 weeks.
Which name do you prefer? No point in commenting if you're just going to be nasty/say neither.
Thank you.

Never seen Jadon spelt like that or heard of Justus tbh. .
Not being negative just noticing!

SwimmingWithDolphins00 · 30/04/2017 15:18

Just - Jadon is the original, biblical spelling and Justus is a biblical name.

wizzywig · 30/04/2017 15:19

SwimmingWithDolphins00 · 30/04/2017 15:19

Justus - I first came across it in Buddenbrooks by Thomas Mann, and considered it for DS Smile

Xmasbaby11 · 30/04/2017 15:20

I think you must know that both names are unusual so you may not get a very positive response.

I prefer Jadon but I'd be wary of using a different spelling.

User2468 · 30/04/2017 15:21

They're very unusual, do they have a specific meaning you like?

Jadon

Although I would be a bit careful with spelling/pronouncation

Jayden/Jadem would usually be pronounced "Jay-den"
Jadon would usually be pronounced "Jaw-done"

Depends which you are after.

SnickersWasAHorse · 30/04/2017 15:21

Although I accept the Jadon is the biblical spelling I think Jaydon or Jaidon is more usual. It is a very popular name though.

Justus is far more interesting and unusual.

SwimmingWithDolphins00 · 30/04/2017 15:21

Xmas - that's why I've asked for people who will be negative to not bother commenting... We would never use a different spelling, hence Jadon.

Justus. Lovely and unusual. Jadon and all its derivatives are very popular now so that would put me off even if I did like the name, which I don't, sorry...

Asmoto · 30/04/2017 15:26

I don't understand the negativity, OP. Justus particularly is a really nice name.

SwimmingWithDolphins00 · 30/04/2017 15:30

I hate that people see Jadon as made up and I hate that the Jayden, etc. has ruined it, as people don't know the actual meaning of the name, it's a shame. It's still an absolute favourite of mine.

Thank you for the sensible comments Smile

Of the two Justus for me.

mainlywingingit · 30/04/2017 15:37

Is Jadon pronounced

Dja-don

I suspect lots of older people will literally pronounce it that way.

TheManyMoonsOfJupiter · 30/04/2017 15:49

I like Jadon a bit better but personally would be put off by the popularity of the similar name Jayden/Jaydon. Not because they're not all nice names, but I was one of three in my class with the same name / different spellings, and wouldn't want my son to be known as Jadon P. to distinguish him from Jayden S. and Jaydyn R. If the name had particular significance for me - named after someone for example - i'd use it anyway, but I'd it was just a name I liked, the 'Jadon P.' factor would be enough to put me off.

You didn't ask for suggestions but I also like Jared, which is similar and Biblical as well.

Sophronia · 30/04/2017 15:50

Justus. Lovely name.
