I haven't come across it before - how is it pronounced? Like Aidan?

TheManyMoonsOfJupiter · 30/04/2017 03:39

Love it. Will you have a fada on the second a?

Do you say it like Ay-awn, Ay-dawn, or A-gh-awn? (I like it any which way).

Littlelegs19 · 30/04/2017 03:40

Is it pronounced Aiden? I like it

Out2pasture · 30/04/2017 03:50

Oden?

Rockaby · 30/04/2017 07:57

I don't know how to pronounce it properly, (non Irish-speaking Irishwoman here)! How is it pronounced please op? And is it for a boy or girl please also?

TheManyMoonsOfJupiter · 30/04/2017 09:21

That last pronunciation in my post should say Ay-gawn, but with just the slightest, barely-there 'g' sound at the back of the throat... Hard to describe.

TheManyMoonsOfJupiter · 30/04/2017 09:22

Rockaby it's a boys name, it's the Irish name that the anglicisation 'Aidan' comes from.

Rockaby · 30/04/2017 10:23

Thanks jupiter!

OP I like it Smile.

Sophronia · 30/04/2017 13:19

I like it.

ZilphasHatpin · 30/04/2017 13:23

I love it. It was on my list for DS2.

DramaAlpaca · 30/04/2017 18:18

The Aodhan I know, who's Irish, pronounces it exactly the same as Aidan.

Lovely name.

NotAMammy · 30/04/2017 19:28

I know Aidens and I'm 'meh' bout that name and I know an Aodhan (A-Dawn) and that's growing from a like to a love. It helps that the Aodhan I know is absolutely lovely and very clever.

Not for me, sorry.
