Hmm not sure. How often do we use intials. I don't think I'd pick up on it but my mind tends not to notice things like that!
Can you not choose a middle name to use in case it causes an issues down the line?

coffeealmond · 29/04/2017 12:28

dont really see the point in middle names :/

Don't worry, OP...I truly wouldn't have even thought to connect it with that BS, had you not mentioned it. I'd say it's fine.

Unlike the hassle perhaps destined for a classmate called, say, Fiona Underwood? Sad

robinia · 29/04/2017 18:38

I wouldn't. Sometimes schools like initials embroidered on PE kit. etc.

MaisyPops · 29/04/2017 18:39

It wouldn't jump out at me but as other people have said it would if it was put on PE kits etc.

My dd is vd without her middle name

No idea, but I thought that was somewhat relevant ;)

Do you love the name? What about using it as a nickname (let's say you love the name Berta. Instead of Berta Smith you go for Alberta Smith... Although, not sure if AS is better...)

LornaD40 · 29/04/2017 18:56

I know a few 'BJs' 🙈 as a school we regularly refer to children in verbal and email communication with their initials...!

Nonameyet1 · 29/04/2017 19:02

It made me chuckle but really doesn't matter.

CatRash · 29/04/2017 19:54

Couldn't see it being an issue at all!! Go for it. I doubt kids really use/look at intials and making the connection if they did.

They might use intials later in life - we use initials a lot where I work and I have to refer my colleague 'BJ' a lot. No one giggles over it!

SmokeCloak · 29/04/2017 19:59

No it won't matter.

Justmadeperfectflapjacks · 29/04/2017 20:01

Better than BJ. .

badtime · 29/04/2017 22:54

These are my initials. Literally no-one has ever commented on them.

TheVanguardSix · 29/04/2017 22:56

Not at all. Don't over think things.

MoonHare · 30/04/2017 13:29

At work people often have to initial documents to show they've read them. Those initials would look like a comment! People on here might say it won't matter but might it matter to your dc in years to come? If you think there's a chance it will, which clearly you do otherwise you wouldn't be asking, then don't do it.

SumAndSubstance · 30/04/2017 19:15

dont really see the point in middle names

Well, in this case, the 'point' would be that the child's initials were not 'BS' Wink
