Malone Head is the most northerly point in Ireland, so you could try looking at a map of Ireland for place name-inspired names, if you liked the sound of Malin. The place is pronounced Mal-in, with emphasis on the first syllable. Unlike lots of Irish words ending with -in, it's simply "in" rather than "-een". I think it sounds lovely. I'm not familiar with Malin as a given name, is it pronounced the same?

I like it. I know a 3 year old whose middle name is Malin, as this is the sea area where his father used to sail with his father. I love the reason for the name, but I also like the name itself.
